To our dear Irma's family and friends: I was privileged to work with Irma for many years when she served as a volunteer reading teacher in our grades 1 and 2 classes. Irma was thoroughly devoted to her students, and they loved her dearly. Even the shyest, most reserved of children would read aloud for Irma, even when no one else seemed to be able to get the same result. Always a lady, Irma was a model for all of the staff. Her commitment, gentle nature, firm resolve and warmth and kindness will always be remembered by the entire Akiva family. On their behalf, I extend our heartfelt condolences. Yehi zichra baruch - May her memory be a blessing.

Dear Annette and Gord, I always knew how special Irma was. Her humility and quiet grace were exemplary. It is no surprise her Akiva students loved her and she must have received great joy from them. I met Irma when her beautiful, lively Sheila obm and I were friends. This goes back to 1968. My dearest memory of Sheila is her her gorgeous smile. I am truly sorry your wonderful aunt has passed away. May Irma’s neshama be protected through many acts of love and kindness. Nancy

Dear Family of Irma, I will not forget the day my principal at Akiva School came to ask me if I would like to have someone volunteer in my Grade 1 classroom once a week. I accepted willingly and when I met this wonderful lady we connected immediately and developed a friendship through all of the 16 years she was in my class. The children adored her. She helped those who were struggling with any concept. She read with them. She took such a genuine interest in the children and every year we designed a huge card for her with everyone's signature and presented her with a beautiful gift. She was thrilled and told me that she kept every one of the cards dedicated to her and proudly wore each of the many jeweled pins we bought for her. Irma and I kept in touch even after I left Akiva. We had lunches together, spoke on the phone, and she was an inspiration. She was always dressed so beautifully, her hair so stylish and she was very busy with bridge and her I Pad and making many holiday trips to see her beautiful family. I was shocked when I found out that Irma had passed away. I send everyone in her family my sincerest condolences. I was privileged to know Irma. She was such a positive soul and we shared many thoughts about "life" and her words of wisdom will always remain with me. Rest in Peace, dear Irma. May the family go from strength to strength at this difficult time. Irma touched the hearts of the people who knew her.
