Dear Charlotte and family, Stan was a mensch who adored his wife and family. I was the recipient of Stan’s kindness while a young teenager. Briefly, I knew I was being stalked on St Catherine Street and my immediate instinct was to find Stan in A Gold and Son. When I told him there was a man following me and described him, he didn’t pause. He walked to the front door of the store and in a forceful manner threatened the stalker to leave the store immediately and leave me alone. Whenever Stan and I saw each other through the years I would remind him that I owed him a debt of gratitude. Stan was a true gentleman. May his neshama be protected through your many acts of love and kindness. Nancy

Dear Gold family, As a social worker for Hope & Cope it has been my pleasure to work with Stanley for many years. The book that he wrote "Cancel the funeral, I would rather play golf" brought hope and inspiration to many patients. Over the years, he brought us thousands of books that we gave away free of charge. Whatever I asked of Stanley he did. He spoke to patients individually, in groups and even to staff and volunteers. Stanley was a wonderful man and he will certainly be missed.
