My most sincere condolences to the family of Bruce, most notably to Brenda, Meredith and Elyssa. Bruce will always be remembered for his kindness and wisdom. He welcomed my mother (and family) as true friends into his life openly and sincerely. I remember him taking me on « rides » on his golf cart while we stayed at his home many summers ago. His generosity was extended again during the ice storm where he provided warm shelter on cold nights. These memories represent his character. May you find peace and solace in knowing that he was one of the great men in this world.

Dear Brenda and Kaufman family, It was with a great Spence of sorrow that I learned of Bruce passing away. I extend my heartfelt condolences to you all. Bruce had an enormous impact on my professional and personal life since 2005, when I first received the honour of being awarded the Bruce Kaufman Chair in IBD that he generously endowed for McGill. It has been a privilege for me to carry his name in my professional activities, offering our patients state of the art treatment and cutting edge research. I so much enjoyed our luncheon updates, when Bruce would ask poignant questions about our progress. He was a brilliant man, visionary in many ways. Yet king and gentle at the same time. We shall miss Bruce but never forget him. The world has lost a man who made this planet a better place.

My condolences to the Kaufman Family. I had the great pleasure of knowing Bruce since he first came from the US and worked with Red Comet, left, and started Kaufel. He was always the honorable gentleman anyone would like to know. I very occasionally had the pleasure of renewing the acquaintance when he was in Montreal and followed him through mutual friends. We have lost a good man. Rest in peace.

DR. EDWARD and FREYDA FELLOWS, HOLLYWOOD, FLORIDA - 15 days ago

Dear Kaufman Family: Please accept our deepest sympathy on the loss of Bruce. He and his family were friends, neighbors and patients of mine when we lived in Dollard-des -Ormeaux, Quebec. We go back to the 1970's when we would have great times together and try to figure out what would the best way to discover something that the world really needed! We then set up a corporation to help invent that something. The corporation was named KAU for Kaufman and FEL for Fellows and hence was born the KAUFEL name that Bruce used to further his great reputation. I moved away and continued my Dental Practice in Florida! I am sorry that over the past 40 years, we did not have the opportunity to discuss our chosen paths. May he rest in Peace! Freyda and Dr. Edward Fellows and Family.

Allan & Linda Rimoin - 15 days ago

I have known Bruce for 54 years since he first came up to Montreal to help my father start manufacturing emergency lighting. I was away at school that year so he moved into my bedroom and became a part of our family. Since then we have also been a part of his. Over the years as I watched him move from success to success, the bonds have only strengthened both through his mentorship and deep friendship with my brother Sam, and with the incredible kindness and generosity he showed to my mother in her later years. Bruce never forgot his friends and his extended family. Linda and I want to offer our heartfelt condolences to Meredith, Elyssa, Brenda and your families. We’ve lost one of the good ones.

Over the years Bruce was the standard that I judged businessmen and women against and still do to this day. So far, no one has quite measured up One of my greatest regrets is not having known at the time how lucky I was to work for and learn from, such an amazing man. My deepest heartfelt condolences to his family.
