when a person as Eric leaves us, the world is diminished. you would think not. just one of billions gone, the impact can not be such. but that is wrong. decency, loyalty, friendship, loving sense of responsibility reduces humanity when it leaks away. our prayers offer sincere comfort for Eric’s family and too, embrace his legacy. Jim and Renee Regalia

Lindsay & Jaclyn - Mark, Uncle Jack, Norman. I remember the first day Eric started at CMI. Then followed 30 years of conversations, friendship and respect. We talked about so much, however the kids were priority conversation. Whenever you two went off to camp he came in somber and worried. Every 'first' was a conversation. I remember Eric talking about one of you hating socks as a young girl and how he could not get you dressed because of socks. He filled the conversations with humor. Norman, you were so many conversations of absolute joy, pride and comfort that you and Jaclyn found each other. Mark, I can only say that through our conversations the bond you two share was enviable. You were his confident. He loved you all so much. 30 years of conversations will be treasured and very missed. My condolences to all of you. Ann

Dear Jaclyn and Lindsay. I met your dad in grade 8 at Herzliah. We sat next to each other and managed to avoid getting each other into too much trouble, despite our best efforts. We crossed paths many times over the years and would always pick up where we left off. Your dad was smart, kind, and remarkably strong in every way. He had that rare gift of making you feel like you're the most important person in the room. May his memory be a comfort to you.
Kent Perkes - 27 days ago
Dear Hoffman Family, Eric Hoffman was and is a special guy! Our paths crossed many years ago in pursuit of providing for our families. Our friendship blossomed and soon became much more than just work associates. We created many memorable experiences outside the realm of employment that I will cherish. We both enjoyed cycling and golf and a few of our memories fell in that arena. But on many occasions, talking business seemed trivial to the many other heartfelt discussions about family, faith, and the important things in life. We became dear friends and he will be missed greatly by me and the entire Smith Frozen Foods team. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family at this most difficult time. Sincerely, Kent and Tracey Perkes

Eric was not only a colleague but also a friend. At lunchtime during summer time we would play tennis together, often dragging it until the fall season. Eric represented a mentor to me, a close colleague, a partner and friend. Eric always pushed me further to attain the unattainable, while always reminding me that the world is my only limit. Eric's values and kindness towards everyone would make him glow and he will be dearly missed around the office. To the family, please accept our deepest and heartfelt condolences.

He was enjoying the game so much and I will cherish all our moments at Elm Ridge. The several rounds we played were on Friday afternoons, but after a quick drink at the 19th hole, he was eager to leave to have dinner with his two beautiful daughters, it was a priority. He will be missed at work and as a golf buddy. Very sorry
Michael Greene - 27 days ago
Dear Jaclyn, Lindsay, Mark and family Over the past 20 years, I have spent much time with Eric and his family. One event in particular stood out and Eric would not let me forget it! It was at Mont Tremblant's Nord-Sud mountain biking trail sometime in the 1990's which we conquered when we were both younger. We were exhausted but that day, we rewarded ourselves with a dip in the Diablo River. He never missed an opportunity to remind me of this great adventures as these times meant a lot to him. He truly loved life! With much sorrow for your loss, Michael Greene

Dear Jaclyn and Lindsay: My Mom and your grandmother pushed me and Eric around when we were in strollers. He was like my brother from another mother. He could be Captain Kirk, Mr. Spock, Superman, Barry Sanders and Rashi all in the same day. He was a special person that probably never understood how special he was to so many people. He said Jace (my nickname) I'm going into a war for a second time and I don't know if I will make it, but I have certainly had a great life with great kids, a great son-in-law and also had the joy of holding a grandchild. And Mark, I'll never forget 50 yrs. ago skating with you, Eric and your Dad and Steve z'l on the Colonial Inn skating rink - and actually thinking I could possibly keep up-who was I kidding . One of a hundred special memories . My deepest sympathies for your loss.

Eric & I met at a great time and place in our lives, several years ago at Elmridge Golf Club. We instantly connected , and remained great friends. Eric’s fight and recovery , became an inspiration for me. My positive outlook on enjoying life , irregardless of the obstacles became our choice of conversation. Although we tried to play golf, we simply enjoyed being together , whether it was a Friday afternoon alone , or part of our group of friends on the weekend. Eric lived with so much happiness to enjoy life everyday, that Joy & I could always feel it with him. Sadly, our drink together , at his new condominium this past summer was a moment we will always treasure.Eric always spoke from his heart and will remain someone special & inspiring in our lives.

We marvelled at Eric's Herculean feats and we laughed so hard at the comic caricatures that he invented, that were sheer genius. He was strong and athletic, but he was graceful. He was funny but also very serious. He was a natural leader but he was modest and thoughtful. He was loyal and kind. Although I haven’t seen him in many years, I‘m sure those qualities continued to inform his achievements and relationships throughout his life. The memories he left with me are indelible. I’m so sorry that I won’t be able to share them with him. May his memory be for a blessing.

Eric was a fine son to his parents, and an equally good younger brother. A gifted athlete and student, Eric was a leader among his peers. We gathered around him to share his love of life. There is little justice in a world that can take such a person from his children and his friends. God speed Eric on the next part of your journey.

To many of us who grew up with Eric, he was our idol. We all looked up to him. Physically, he was exceptional. He ran like the wind and he was strong like a lion. After all, how many 13 year olds could heave a 100 pound barbell over his head with one arm? Beyond his strength, Eric was a person we all gathered around. He was compassionate and also hilarious. Who could forget the fun high school parties on Pinedale? It’s true that over the years, many of our relationships faded, not for any reason other than the many responsibilities that overtake us in adult life. However my wonderful memories of Eric will never dissipate. May he Rest In Peace. My sympathies to his children.

Dear Jaclyn, Lindsay and Mark Words cannot express how sad we are to learn of Eric’s passing. He was a real mentsch. I remember fondly the many times years ago we spent enjoying his company with our other cousins at his grandparents home. May your many wonderful memories bring you comfort in the days to come. Ricky and Cheryl
