Dear, Jo-Anne Bonnie & Andrew, I was sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. We go back many years with THE CUTTLER FAMILY.(everyone spelled it differently). The days of Bessie's in the house and then in the store in Ville St. Laurent. Lastly Bessie's Boutique on de la Savane. I used see Mom at Coiffure St. Laurent before she moved to Toronto. We would chat and catch up about the family. Your Mom was a real sweet heart. I hope the wonderful memories will get you through this difficult time. Deepest sympathy, Ellen

Dear Walter Family, My deepest sympathy on the passing of a very special lady. The Cutler family----that is Bessie, of Boutique Bessie fame. It started way back when Bessie was selling school tunics which I bought for my daughter. With the very warm personality , which Lois inherited, the famous Boutique Bessie had become the place to go for the well-dressed woman! Lois's move to Toronto was Montreal's loss and Toronto's gain. She will be remembered by her MANY friends. RIP Lois. May her memory be a blessing and the family be spared from further sorrow. Fondly, Ruth Katz

Arlene Lutter - 17 days ago
Dearest Children, Larry and Grandchildren of Lois, I am so deeply sorry to hear this very sad news. I am the youngest daughter of the late Millie and Lew Lutter who were lifelong friends of Bessie and Joe Cutler. They were part of what was called the”Gin Rummy” gClub a collection of about ten couples .Lois was an integral part ofour family’s long-standing friendship. I have wonderful memories of our twice yearly Visits , my Mother and sister, to Bessie Cutler at her St Laurent Val Royal home where her basement was the Center of operation. There we rummaged through boxes and shelves to find PJs , bathing suits and tees. But what i remember most was the hugs and laughter from Bessie, the drop in visits of humour from Joe, cigar in hand or mouth and when Lois came by her warmth and sunshine amd even the tallness of sweet Larry . My parents adored Bessie and I think it was reciprocal and remained close to her after Joe died. It was a joy some 4-5 years ago when my husband and i met Lois and A daughter at a Westmount restaurant where we lingered and shared memories. My husband and your parents were also neighbors on the Boulevard though i did not know your Dad . . Wishing all of you the warmth and comfort of Lois’beautufl memory and the strength of her legacy as you face life without her. Arlene Lutter

Dear Walters family, I too, like so many others was first a customer and then became a friend. We spent hours discussing our families, both sharing simchas and concerns., encouraging each other. When I moved to Toronto 7 years ago Lois referred me to Joanne’s shop. Because of the generation gap we did not connect the same way, but she usually helped me find what was good for me. Today I miss her shop tremendously. I had heard Lois was not thriving of late. And advise her children to hold on to the good memories of both there parents. They were raised in a loving home by devoted parents now resting together. My sincerest heartfelt sympathy.

Boruch Dayan Ha-emes Dear Joanne and Eric, Andrew, Bonnie and grandkids, Please accept our family’s profound condolences on the loss of your mother and grandmother. Lois was a genuine, kind, loving person who permeated an atmosphere of friendship and trust with whomever she encountered. Until she closed her business a few years ago, Boutique Bessie served much more than a woman’s apparel store; it was known as the central gathering place for people to meet, schmooze and sample the finest and latest European and local fashions and styles of womenswear. A visit to her store was like a visit into her living room; a social event where friendships were born and nurtured. Lois did all this! We will sorely miss her smile and her positive demeanor. HaMakom yenachem es'chem b'toach shaar avay'lay Tzion ve'Yerushalayim. May you be comforted amongst the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem Martin, Evelyn, Melanie, Benjamin, Melissa, Paulo, Matteo, Lincoln and Kennedy Brook

I was saddened to learn about Lois’ passing and extend my condolences to everyone in Lois’ family. We were friends when we were young, part of a group that went to Edward VII school and lived in the same area. We went to high school together and were in the same girls club at the Y. We reconnected a year or so before she moved to Toronto, meeting every few months with other ‘old girls’ over lunch. We shared memories, laughs and stories about our lives. Sincerely, Frances
Lydia Lechter - 17 days ago
Dear Bonnie, Jo-Anne, Edward and Families:- I’m so sorry to read that your mother has passed away. Lois’ cheerful outlook on life and her kind words made Bessie’s a gathering place for friends who became loyal customers, and sometimes customers who ended up as friends. Over the years, I shared the odd lunch with her, helped her unpack boxes, and even helped out with a customer or two, even though I was a customer myself. May you gather strength in knowing that your mother made the experience of being in her company something to look forward to, and upon leaving, it was always with good cheer and a smile. Sincerely, Lydia Lechter.

In 1959-60, Lois was my grade 5 teacher at Parkdale School. When Miss Cutler got married, she invited a few of her students to the ceremony and I went with my Mom! She was a wonderful teacher who impacted my life. Several years ago, I met Lois again when she became a volunteer at the Jewish Eldercare Auxiliary where I volunteered as well. She remembered me and it was so special to connect again and reminisce......I am saddened to read of her passing and will always remember her with great fondness.

To the family of the Late Lois Walter. My sincere condolences on the passing of your mother, mother-in-law and grandmother.
