Dear Cheryl -Elliott- and all the family- heartfelt sympathy on the loss of beloved Phyllis. I was privileged to have known her since 1933 (86 years ago) when she attended my brother Mitch Richlers Barmitzvah as his special friend. Phyllis achieved so much in her life, yet she wasnt one to boast about her outstanding accomplishments! As a young teenager she was part of the Little Players of the Air- performing in theatres and on Radio and she also played a part in a demonstration of what life would be like with the magic of television (long before TV was introduced to Canada!) In adulthood she became a beloved perpetual volunteer and innovator and received many awards among them being knighted by the National Order of Quebec for exceptional accomplishment, which is the highest distinction. She received many other awards for her outstanding leadership and dedication. However-most of all, Phyllis was a devoted wife and a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and dear friend. I feel privileged to have experienced her warmth which was so infectious to everyone she encountered and she will be sorely missed! May your wonderful memories help you through this difficult time. Afffectionately- Sherna and brother Mitch.

She also had an incredible ability to elicit humor and warmth to diffuse the most tense situations and to generate kindness when it was most needed. Dear family, When she was Women’s Campaign Chair, Phyllis came to DDO to speak at Beth Tikvah. She “turned me on” to get involved in community. When she was President of the JGH Auxiliary, she recruited me. And the rest for me is history. Phyllis was the consummate leader. With her quiet demeanour she inspired others and got the job done. I worked along side of her and Sheila Kussner in the beginning of Hope and Cope. She was a mentor and I followed in her footsteps at the hospital and at FCJA. I am forever indebted to her, and for her. My sympathies are with you all.
