Dear Fish Family, My deepest condolences on the passing of Aaron Max Fish, z'l. Aaron loved his locks: talking about locks, teaching people about locks, exhibiting his locks. His Lock Museum is a wonderfully educational experience about the history of locks. He was a man of no pretensions, neither about his humble beginnings fiddling with bicycle locks nor about the locks he created. An original with a great sense of humour who will be missed. May the many good memories you have of him comfort you during these difficult days. May you and your family be spared any further sorrow. Rachel

What fun it was to work with Aaron on the book about his life. He was hard-working and easy-going, serious and mischievous, philosophical and practical, and always a straight-shooter. At every meeting he conveyed enjoyment and insights that were bold and original. It was our honour to serve his dream and our pleasure to learn from him. Condolences to everyone who knew and loved Aaron.

Dear Wally and Family, My sincerest condolences on Aaron’s passing. I was very saddened to learn this news. I was his banking relationship manager on the Unican account in the 1990’s and he was one of my favourite clients. He always spoke fondly of his family and he always had something interesting and insightful to say. My family was honoured that he attended our son’s Bar Mitzvah in 1994 and his is the only card that we remember. He wrote to our son “The harder I work, the luckier I get”. Words and wisdom that he lived by and wanted to pass onto a young man. He was a special man and I am sure he will be sorely missed. May your wonderful memories give you comfort at this difficult time.

Dear Fish family ,My deepest sympathy on the loss of a great man. Aaron was very bright ,hard working, humble ,unassuming and generous individual. I will never forget at one of several committee meetings that we attended at the hospital (meeting that had nothing to do with Radiology)Aaron turned to me and said very spontaneously “you know what,I am going to get a CT scan to the department of Radiology”and that s how we got one of the state of the art scanners at the JGH. Aaron also provided extremely valuable equipment to other departments at the hospital. May fond memories help to sustain you during these difficult times . I certainly will miss Aaron. Andre Lisbona.

I hope you and all his children can find comfort at this time in one another and in being apart of your growing family. Fondly, Howard Reitman and Ramona Benveniste

My condolences to his wife and family. I am a high school room classmate of Aaron, at Baron Byng. My most vivid memory of Aaron was seeing him sitting at the front of the room next to me, during classes, fiddling with a lock, under the top of his desk. He, along with the few other classmates still living in Montreal, used to get together one day each year to have lunch, for a reunion of our classroom , reminiscing of our years, activities, and classmates, deceased or living out of town, and ending lunch singing out loud, Baron Byng's school song. He hosted a few lunches at his factory/lock museum. He was a wonderful person, a real mensh.

Dear Family, Over the years you have had to share Aaron with a great many people. I was one of the fortunate people. I willl miss Aaron's daily phone calls. I will miss his friendship. We will all have great memories of wonderful times shared. Aaron loved his children and grandchildren, his family and friends. In return, he was loved. He was so proud of you all. You are the great legacy he leaves behind to carry on. Losing Aaron now is a double whammy, so soon after Eddy. They looked alike and were often mistaken for one another. I hope that they find each other and continue a friendship that began so many years ago. Free of pain and suffering, may May Aaron rest in peace.

Dear Aaron's Family, It is with a heavy heart that I write this message. I met Aaron about 20 years ago in a bakery, where we were both buying bagels. We got into a talk about community, and at that time I had been working at the JGH Foundation. I invited him to a meeting at the hospital, and that is when our community and personal friendship began. Aaron was a confidante and a mentor to me, and he always had wise and valuable "life" advice. Aaron was a kind person to all and treated everyone regardless of their position with complete respect. What other CEO of a company invites all his employees and friends to a private concert at Place des Arts where we were treated to a concert from the MSO and Aaron was the Maestro for a few pieces which was his own birthday gift to himself. I was in touch with Aaron up until a couple of weeks ago. I will miss my friend, but remember his words of wisdom always. RIP my friend . You will be missed by all whose lives you touched. Pam

Dear Wally and family, How sad I was to see that Aaron had passed away. The first time I met Aaron was when your family joined Dorshei Emet. I was working in the office (1980-2001) and when I introduced myself with the name "Samberg", Aaron immediately asked me "if my father was Henry and my brother Seymour"? I answered "yes". I was amazed that he knew my family. Aaron was such a kind and gentle man. I remember when he invited me to go to Place des Arts where he was going to be the Maestro with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. What a super evening that was. May you all be comforted by the many wonderful memories of a "great" mensch. Memories you now have to cherish.
