Dear Faige, Leonard, Lydia and Family. , My heart broke upon learning of the tragic loss of beloved Michael. He was an extraordinary human being who played such a pivotal role in my childhood. I remember the day he came to live in my house on Villeneuve, in the front bedroom. It took my mother only a couple of days to figure out that he should meet the beautiful girl across the street and she made it her mission to assure that they would spend the rest of their lives together. Michael was enormously handsome and intelligent and kind and loving. He was a special part of my family from the day he moved in. When I saw Faige and Michael during a visit to my dad last summer, after losing my own husband, I could not help but notice that he and Faige held hands the entire time we spoke. Michael overcoming such unspeakable adversity, surviving the Holocaust beginning at the age of nine, was inspiring and comforting. He continued to be a positive and compassionate person and touched everyone who had the great fortune to know him. He and Faige were the ultimate love story and I hope her fond memories of a loving a devoted husband and father, coupled with the passage of time will ease her pain and sorrow. He will always be in my thoughts and deep in my heart. Love always, ❤️Roz

Dear Lydia and Pinkas family: It has been a very long time since I have seen mr Pinkas and the whole family, but I have the greatest memories of spending a lot of time with you all. Mostly, I remember every Sunday at Plattsburgh Beach. It was like being away on vacation each week. Your parents made it so special, always bringing the best meals and snacks from your father’s snack bar. Always so kind and generous. Thanks to these beautiful memories, I continue to go with my family to the same beach every summer, and think of the great years we had together. I am heartbroken that your father has passed away. He was a true gentleman. I pray he rests in peace. Thinking of you all at this sad time. Dorit.

Dearest Faige, Twelve years ago we were fortunate enough to move in to a home across the street from you and Michael. I’ll never forget the day we all first met. You and Michael so warm and welcoming. Michael immediately reminded me of my grandfather, who was also named Michael. I was immediately struck by Michaels’ sincerity, warmth, good looks, and smile. Daniel and Mia were always so excited to see you and Michael and it wasn’t just because you always brought them chocolate! You and Michael were always so warm and endearing and so sincerely interested in the kids and their everyday accomplishments. The kids and I were all in awe of Michaels’ green thumb and gorgeous Magnolia tree that was always so perfectly pruned. Even after we moved to a new home around the corner, nothing made us happier then bumping into you and Michael while you were on one of your long walks; both of you the picture of the most loving and supportive couple. Erica, Daniel, Mia and I are so sorry for your loss. Know that we all miss Michael very much and that we wish we could mourn with you. With love, Guy.

Dearest Faige , Leonard, Lydia, and my entire family. It is with such great sadness that I send you love from across the country, wishing I could be there to mourn this great loss. My uncle was an extraordinary human being who survived unthinkable circumstances and yet remained the happiest person I have ever known - I never saw him without a smile on his face and the kindest words for me and my daughter and everyone he met. As not just my uncle but my mother's neighbors for over 45 years, you have been such a close part of our lives and we will miss Mike greatly. I can't even fathom it.
