To the family of “Mar Helfield”, I was his student at the Adath Israel School in Outremont. Our class was quite taken with our young and cool teacher , as most of our Hebrew teachers of the time appeared quite elderly in our young eyes! The girls (we were just 8 years old) spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out whether or not he was married or had a girlfriend! Over 50 years later I can see him clearly at his desk, calmly counting until we would settle down. The first class I ever taught was grade 3 Hebrew. My deepest sympathies, “Bella”.

To the family of Mr. Helfield. I was a student of Mr. Helfield many many years ago at the time in Adath Israel school, I believe when I was in grade 3. He was a nice and professional man, who I think took control of the class by counting- "achat, Shtayim, Shalosh".. It probably worked. I think we never knbew Mr. Helfield's first name because at the time years ago, it was not necessarily common to know the first name of the teachers. My sympathies
