Dear Ernie, Alana, Steven & Family, Every-time that someone we love passes away it is as if another piece of the beautiful puzzle that made up our family has fallen off. We can remember what the piece looks like in our heart and mind's memory, but without it every single piece, without every single person, we are never complete. Your family, like Uncle Mark, Auntie Nyssa, Jeffrey and Eric, hold such a special place in my heart, and in the best of my childhood memories. When I think back to almost every memory of Allan, I can see him smiling, joking and laughing. Ernie, even as a child I remember how much he loved you, and how you were always lovingly by his side. I remember my dad sometimes laughing to the point that he would start to cry; the kind of laughter that comes from the belly, and deep, deep, deep within the soul. Allan had this incredible gift to light up a room with his humour, his often unique point of view, and his incredible heart that loved being around people his family & friends. And we all loved him just a much in return. Just the mention of the name "Butch" would trigger this awesome spark of joy and happiness in my grandparents eyes. Elana & Steven, I don't have to tell you how much your dad loved you both. As kids, we often drove our parents crazy, but nothing in the world was more important to him than you guys. I wish I could be there for you now but our lives in this world have planted us all over the map; but always know, and please always remember, how much I love you all; how much my family loves you all; and how much we are deeply saddened, but also relieved that Allan's suffering is over, and that he is resting and of course laughing, in a place of greater good, and unconditional love. Our time is almost done "here", and I have to believe, with all of my heart, that everyone we love, and the families & friends we lost, are waiting "there", in a place free of war, violence, disease and suffering to join them. For each of us, all of us, are important and essential pieces of their puzzle. Love, Gary

We were truly blessed to have Alan as a friend. Yes.... he always made us laugh. Yes..... he always had great stories to tell but that was dwarfed by his kindness & his heart which was all encompassing. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for you. To say he was one of a kind doesn’t really capture who he was. He truly was the BEST of the BEST.

My first memories of Allan date back to the fifties when we played hockey at Ponsard Park. Our next meeting would be in the seventies at the ski hill in Morin Heights. In the nineties we would meet each other at Blue Bonnets and more recently through our mutual friend, the late Morris Feldman. Always enjoyed catching up with Allan and I am going to miss him.

DEAR ERNIE AND FAMILY: I WAS DEEPLY SADDENED AND DISMAYED TO LEARN OF THE UNTIMELY PASSING OF ALLAN. ALLAN WAS AN INTEGRAL PART OF OUR CHOMEDEY EXECUTIVE BASEBALL LEAGUE FOR MANY YEARS, AS WELL AS AN ESSENTIAL AND ANIMATED CONTRIBUTOR TO OUR ANNUAL REUNION BANQUETS, WHERE HE FREQUENTLY REGALED OUR MEMBERS WITH A VARIETY OF ANECDOTAL STORIES AND JOKES THAT WERE UPROARIOUSLY FUNNY AND THOROUGHLY ENTERTAINING. THAT WAS ALLAN- A REAL RACONTEUR, A JOKER, A QUIPSTER- A HUMORIST BEYOND MEASURE. ON A PERSONAL NOTE, I FONDLY REMEMBER ALLAN, IN THE EARLY DAYS IN CHOMEDEY, RINGING MY DOORBELL WHILE WALKING HIS DOG, AND THE TWO OF US SUBSEQUENTLY GOING TO HIS HOUSE TO WATCH BOXING MATCHES IN HIS BASEMENT, A SPORT OUTSIDE OF HORSE RACING HE ENJOYED DISCUSSING ENDLESSLY. I WILL MISS ALLAN'S DEMEANOUR, HIS VITALITY, HIS SPONTANEITY, AND HIS ENDLESS TROVES OF ENTERTAINING JOKES. REST IN PEACE, ALLAN.
