Dear Nelly and Annick, My sincerest condolences on the loss of your dear brother. I went to school with Louis from kindergarten at JPPS to Bialik. I have so many memories of Louis and the gang..listening to Israeli music on our lunch hours at Bialik, Louis doing his famous impersonations of the "Rodal's" staff looking for the records... and I will always remember him complimenting me on how I looked like Mary Tyler Moore. He was truly a mench, with a big heart and a great sense of humour. I will truly miss him. May all your cherished memories bring you comfort at this difficult time. Sincerely, Shelley Marks

Dearest Lucien, How wonderful that you have been part of many people's lifes. The laughter, talks and ooohh that voice! You were always a joy to be around even when I was rushing though the aisle at work and glancing in your direction to get a generous and sincere smile. I hope you are up there enjoying a new world. My sincerest condolences to the whole family

My deepest and heartfelt condolences to the Rochman family. I have very fond memories of singing in a Bialik High School mini band with Louis, Jerry and Brian - we rocked Israeli 70's pop music, especially those Eurovision songs! His joie de vivre, great laugh and caring soul lives on in all our memories. May you be comforted in this time of sorrow in knowing that he touched many of our lives as well. Mia

Dear Louis, I am so sorry we did not get a chance to see each other before the pandemic lockdown. I am sure you are now reunited with your mom and dad and catching up with them in their cozy little heimish kitchen in heaven. They will take good care of you up there. Please say hello to Avriel, Andy and Sheldon from us down here - eventually, Bialik's class of '76 will join you all when our time comes, too. Zai Gezunt, Leizer...... To Nelly and Annick and the Rochman family: my heartfelt condolences on this horrible loss. May the love and support of friends and family comfort you at this very, very sad time.

Dear Nelly and Annick, I first met Louis in 1980 and we became fast friends. We discovered the city together and were literally attached at the hip. Louis and your parents were still living on Westbury at the time and I remember always being welcomed into their home. Your Mom was constantly correcting my French and this had an impact on me as well. Rachel was my second French teacher. For the next five years, Louis and I did everything together. I began meeting some of his high school friends and we always had a good time together, particularly with Ellen Drazner. By the mid 1980’s, life took us in different directions and we did not see each other that often. However, as the years went by, I always thought about Louis and how much of an impact he had on my life. I contacted him in 2000 and we had a nice reunion at his apartment on Dufferin and reminisced about all the great times we shared together. I was saddened to hear about Louis’s passing. To measure a life, one has to have had an impact on people. Louis had a large impact on my life and I will always remember him with the fondest of memories. Sending condolences to both of you and your entire family. May the great memories that you have of Louis sustain you during this difficult time.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of Louis, whom I remember with great affection. His humour, his warmth and decency were his hallmarks; whenever we met I was reminded of what I most missed about him and the class of which he was a part. I extend condolences to his family on their bereavement and know they will hold forever in their hearts memories of a sweet guy.

Dear Nellie, Annick, Laura and Family, My deepest sympathies on the untimely loss of Louis. He was a great guy who always made us all laugh. I recall many nights where I would go with Louis and others to the Harlequin Disco where we would dance the night away. We would each order one drink, mine was a Singapore Sling, and nurse it all evening. Needless to say, the waiters didn’t love us! In later years, Louis and Manny and other friends would hang out at my house and laugh the night away. I even went one year to Manny’s parents house for Christmas as they assumed I was his girlfriend. I got so many gifts. My high school memories include laughing with Louis as he could find humour in everything. So many great memories. It is hard to believe we will never see him again. About 10 Years ago, I was visiting Montreal and a bunch of high school friends and Mr. Fred Robinson got together. It was a fun evening. The most significant part of the evening was when Fred Robinson turned to Louis and apologized for picking on him in High School. Louis would tell you that every time there was an assembly of sorts, Fred would stand at the microphone and say “Louis get out” even before the program started. I think Fred’s apology meant a lot to him. They hugged and it was a nice conclusion to a high school grudge. I have so many memories of Louis. He was a good person wth a kind heart. Thank you Louis for all the laughs and decades of friendship. You will be missed.

My strongest memories of Louis were when he, Jerry Herszkopf, and I would get together, and Louis and I would sing and play guitar, they both laughing when I inadvertently put a southern twang into "I Love You" by Olivia Newton John! They found humour in everything, which is such a gift. I remember Louis telling me (many, many years ago) how he once stayed in a relationship that he wanted to end because his birthday was coming up and his partner was going to get him a set of sheets that he really wanted. Who can't relate to that? He always made me laugh, his wicked sense of humour surpassing my own and his filter less functional. We lost a good one. Rest in peace, Louis. You are already greatly missed.
