Dear Doris, Andrea, Ian, Rhoda and family, I was so saddened to hear of the loss of your beloved Al. I was so touched when Al called me twice last week from the hospital to reminisce about the very close friendship he had with my Allan. Every morning Al would phone and say "Joan open your door I'm coming down to see my buddy". Allan would say "hi boychik"and then the talk about "the market" began. Al was also talking of all the great times we shared together. Besides having so many wonderful times together I will never forget my last two telephone conversations with Al. May the love of your family and good friends give you strength during this difficult time. Joan

He volunteered several times to do the prayers at Passover & Rosh Hoshana. He was ( and you, as well, Doris) so good to residents and they just all loved you both so very much. He will be missed. Doris, my condolence to your children, I know that they will help you through the difficult days ahead and going forward. May Al rest in peace. (MY FATHER / MY BEST FRIEND) As a FATHER you were the best a son could ever wish for. As a BEST FRIEND is where I will miss you the most. My strong values I hold are carbon copies of you and mom. Whenever I fell you picked me up, uplifted my spirits, and sent me on my way a better person. You and I talked in detail about your wishes and I told you “Whatever you decide I am beside you”. I kept my promise to you. I was beside you when your comforting journey began, and I never left your side. A few days ago you called me and we talked for over 90 minutes. You shared some sentimental moments of your life, which I never knew before. I envy parts of your life. You achieved something’s that others only dream about. I hope your life on the other side is as good as you wished for. I will be with you again, somewhere, sometime. someday. Dad my head and my heart will always be with you. Every beat my heart takes I know you are still with me. We will make sure always mom is OK. Don’t worry ever. As I used to sign my cards as a child …. Love always your first born child. XOXOXOXOXOXOXO ……………. A friend of mine who you knew always called you “BIG AL” and he was right. You are, were, and will always be “BIG AL”. (MY FATHER / MY BEST FRIEND / BIG AL)
