Dear Hy, David and Benjy, Hearing of the loss of your mother who, with your father was so instrumental in helping build our extraordinary community at Lake Patrick is a hard bit of news for me to absorb. I think that I am the last of the founding members, but I am blessed in having so many wonderful memories of the early days when discussion about proper drainage practices and child rearing cemented our caring and sharing as a community, and Ruth had wise opinions on both. When doing a mental free association thinking of Ruth I remember her swimming with her elegant Australian crawl which for the rest of us seemed to be of Olympic style. I will always see her that way. She was tall, beautiful and a great friend. It is a treasure to have known her. I share your sense of loss, Delores

Ruth was a strong, intelligent and elegant woman I am happy to have known, as one of the best friends of my cousin Sara Cohen. She was curious about the world around her and always showed interest in my life, from when I was a teen, until the last time we met. Her death feels like the end of an era and I will hold cherished memories of time spent in her beautiful home in Lake Patrick. Deepest condolences to her beautiful sons who gave her such joy with their families. Much love to you all!

Hyman Weisbord - 14 days ago

Growing up, from Park Extension to the Lower Laurentians, Ruth was part of my family’s life. While I watched her as she kept an eye on her four “boys,” with love, encouragement and wisdom I also knew that she certainly was no pushover. Who else, as the only woman in the household, could train these four guys to put the toilet seat down after using it? Much has been written here about her athleticism, intellectual acuity, warmth--- all of it so true. To me, she was my tall, focused, clear- headed aunt whose welcome and open door policy always made me feel what I am, part Eliasoph. My condolences, Hy, David and Benjie. To your wives too, and all the grandchildren. Auntie Ruth is still here in the valley, among us, down at the end of the road. H

Elsie Skolnik - 14 days ago

It is with sadness that we express our sympathies to Ruth’s families. She will be remembered as an active participant in various activities at Sunrise Residence in Toronto and remembered and missed by her friends here. Ruth and I enjoyed several seasons at the opera and reminisced about our life in Montreal the city that we left.

Brissa&Brian Berkovits and Family - 14 days ago

Dear David, Josee, Dahlia, Ilana and the entire Family, Our heartfelt condolences on the passing of your loving mother, mother in law and Bubi. Ruth always had a warm smile when she came for a visit and waved hello from across the street which always ended up by a quick walk across the street to have a chat so we could catch up on family and life happenings. " Those we love remain with us, for love itself goes on, our memories never fade because a loved one is gone. Those we love can never be more than a thought apart, for as long as we have our memories they live on inside our heart." May Ruth's memory be a source of comfort, strength and pride for the entire family. Our thoughts are with you, and sending our love, Brissa, Brian, Brandon, Emily, Blaire and Daniel.

Ruth was one of the most elegant swimmers in the Acres. Skimmed the water with graceful, powerful strokes, a joy to watch, and as a kid I did watch Ruth swim. In later life, we met again at a book club where I understood the respect and friendship felt toward Ruth by her peers. Such a strong, resilient, beautiful (always) woman. My heart goes out to Ruth's sons Hym, David, Bengie and to her beloved grand-children.

I'm truly sorry to hear the sad new. I have a lot of good memories of Ruth both up north and in the city. She was generous with her time and would take care of Ashley so Kathy and I could play tennis every week. We always had nice visits afterwards and great discussions. A dignified, intelligent and kind lady.

Dear Benji, David & Hy. Lee & I extend our deepest sympathies to the 3 of you & your families. By chance I crossed paths with David a few years ago. That prompted me to reach out to Ruth. We spoke at length about the start of our Real Estate careers working for Martha. That relationship continued for many years when Ruth joined the team at Michael White Realties. The most important collaboration was when we joined up to broker the sale of 5623 Palmer to my brother Perry. LOL. Wish for you & your families to stay safe & healthy during these difficult times. Sincerely. Lee & Michael.

Dear Family, How sorry I was to read of your mother's passing. I have known Ruth for many years, along with your father, Sim. I was a close friend of Marcia Eliasoph's and have especially fun and fond memories of driving together to the destination wedding of one of Marcia's son's in NY State - of terrible rain, cold temperatures, freezing wind, black outs at the location and on and on. Regardless we have a wonderful time and spent the time reminiscing of times past. I am so sorry for your loss. She was a woman full of life and energy and always had a smile on her face!!! Please know that my thoughts and heart are with you at this difficult time. Sincerely, Carole Prussin Blank
