Dear Family, I am deeply grateful to have been able to spend the time I did with a beautiful, gentle soul whom I considered my aunt and part of my family. Francoise (Frenchy) is one of my mom’s (Romana H.) best friends. I don’t like to say “was,” because she still is and all of the great memories we have with Frenchy will stay with us. Frenchy was present at my birth and had a deep involvement with my childhood and upbringing. I would always be waiting for her visit to Los Angeles, where she would attend all our gatherings with family and friends. Everyone knew and adored her! We used to walk every day to get one of my favorite sandwiches, go to museums, cultural attractions, and city events by bus while my parents were at work. Even as I grew older, we went on vacations together, and went to see movies. Frenchy was extremely respectful, reverent, open, and integrative towards other cultures and religions. We shared a love of animals and birds, and she even gave me advice on how to take care of a duckling I had as a teenager. I am sad, but chose to focus on the joy that my auntie brought to all our lives! In my religion we say, “Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.” Verily we belong to God, and to Him we do return. May she be rewarded for her kind acts and continue to be a source of joy and laughter.

Dear Harriet, Jonathan, Timmy and Family, Au revoir ma petite moineau! I am grateful to have met Frenchy. We loved her so dearly. She was gentle, loved animals, a devoted friend, smart and driven. I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone quite like her. Even at an advanced age she looked at the world and continued to experience it with a child like wonder. I have so many stories of my travels with Frenchy and our family. Trips to India, the Caribbean, and other places that she made more memorable, interesting and magical because she was there. She was indeed a rare bird and I will miss her.

Romana Haider - 20 days ago

Dear Harriet, Jonathan, Timmy and family. My beautiful birdie has flown away to Heaven. As you know, I met Frenchy in 1987 while I was a TA for a Biology class at Concordia University. When I met Frenchy, I was delighted to learn that she had gone back to school to do a bachelor's degree, and of all courses, she enrolled herself in a general biology class. I asked her - "Miss Zyto- why are you doing a Biology class", knowing what a difficult class it was. She excitedly replied, "I love animals and want to learn about them." I told her that it was going to be difficult and that she would have to study a lot because the class average was usually a "c" in the class. Frenchy being so diligent, ended up with a " B . " She graduated University with a B average and even took algebra which she struggled with in high school and got an A to prove to herself she could do it. She was determined, inquisitive but most of all gentle. I loved her for so many reasons and she taught me a lot along this great journey of ours. She loved people unconditionally no matter where they came from, and regardless of their background, race or religion. She was right outside my hospital room for both my kid's births. My husband, dad, mom, sister, my brother in-law and my Frency. She was well travelled with a zest for life- her and I travelled together to India twice. She loved the Arts- was a great piano teacher and enjoyed going to Place des Arts to watch Opera. She was a devoted mother who doted over her kids. She was very proud of both of them and always spoke of them highly. Frenchy loved her husband too and never spoke negatively about him. A lover of animals, especially birds - Kissy was always her favorite. My Frenchy led her life by example. I will miss her greatly. I'm so so sad. I'm grateful for all her love and support.

Dear Family: Frenchy was such a huge part of my upbringing as she was first friends with my aunt Romana, then became a part of our extended Haider family. She was there for every big event in my life as a child & teenager - including my university graduation party. She joined our family for several visits to India, the Dominican Republic, and in 2009, a cruise in the Med (she was my roommate on the trip). I have so many wonderful photos with her. She was always energetic, active, and ready for adventure. After our family moved to Boston, she would visit frequently, and loved to go sightseeing and shopping. I will sorely miss her kind, patient, and beautiful soul. My deepest condolences to all of you for your loss.

I was so sad to get the news today. Just 2 month Ago Françoise called me to find out when will the next day trip be organized as she is ready to go. I was sadden to tell her no bus trip during pandemic. I will always remember her she was a beautiful women and I admired her curiosity to want to discover the world. Just last October we went to Alaska and enjoyed the beautiful sceneries. I will never forget her and her love for birds. I will always remember the first time we met she had her birds with her cage. She took them out to the mall so they would not get lonely. The last time I saw her was end of April when I brought her a album I made for her, it gave me so much pleasure to have shared the memories with her. She was so happy and appreciated it so much. I will miss her.
