To the entire Vejgman family, my deepest condolences on Jean's passing. He was a gentle soul, caring and a great friend along with Esther to my parents Claire and Armand Tobaly. May the many memories he left behind bring some solace and comfort in the days ahead. May he rest in eternal peace.

Dear Marc and Rena, Charles and Chantal, I was so sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad and father in Law. I have very fond memories from my childhood of having spent many occasions together in TMR, with your mom Esther and your Dad Jean. Your mom Esther was always so joyous and your Dad was always so kind, gentle and had a wonderful disposition. Your parents were an integral part of our gatherings. We are thinking very much of you and keeping you in our prayers. May your Dad rest in peace.

Il va beaucoup me manquer.Je le rencontrais souvent en me promenant à VMR. Sincères condoléances à toute la famille,

I am so sorry to hear about Jean's passing. He was always with our art group when we went painting outdoors in the summer, in his case, writing poetry. He was like a permanent fixture in Leonidas and Dupond and Dupont sitting at his table with his coffee and note book. I will miss his cheerful smile and stories. My sincere condolences to his sons and family. He was a treasure who will be missed.

Marc, Charles, Rena Chantal, David and Jeremy our condolences. Today is a sad day for us and specially for you. During the funeral I wanted to say something about Jean; however, When I tried to remember Jean a big nice and peaceful smile was coming to my mind. The moments that I remember with Jean are happy and funny moments how the day that I saw that Jean received a proposal. For sure, due to the fact that he was a handsome man, Jean has received several proposals from beautiful ladies including Esther; However, this time was a proposal that not all men have on them record. This proposal came from a 5-year-old girl that asked Jean that since she did not have grandfathers because both of them passed a way before she was born if Jean could be her grandfather. Of course as Jean was a gentleman, he accepted this proposal. Jean that is the way that we will remember you like a self-taught man ambassador of the happiness and the “Don Quixote” tongue El español, lengua que llegastes a hablar y a escribir mejor que muchos de nosostros. Un fuerte abraso y hasta siempre Jean.

To Marc and Rena, Charles and Chantal- It was with shock and sadness that I learned of your dad’s passing. I remember fondly meeting both your parents in the streets and cafes in TMR when I lived there. Many years ago, Jean asked me to illustrate some of his poems, which I gladly did. He was certainly a wonderful and sensitive poet, very much appreciated as TMR’s poet-in-residence. He was a kind and gentle man, always with a ready smile. Please accept my most sincere condolences- may he rest in eternal peace.

Charles, Chantal, Marc, Rena, David and Jeremy, I feel so blessed to have had such fond memories of Jean. In a gentle and subtle, if not even silent, way he exuded such a unique warmth. He impacted the world through his many art form expressions including many delicious and plentiful meals that he had prepared which I remember well. My sincere condolences to all of you and may you cherish beautiful memories of him for decades to come. Lots of love, Stacy.

Dear Marc, Rena, Charles & Chantal, I was very sad to hear about the passing of your dad. I have very fond childhood memories of being at your home in TMR with your family and mine. I remember how Jean always showed immense kindness towards everyone. I vividly remember his warm smile, gentle disposition, and his poems which he would so often read to us. I also remember how much my Grandmother, Claire Tobaly, truly enjoyed the company of Jean and your mom, Esther. It was comforting to me to see how much she loved them and so by extension, her dear friends naturally became a part of the family. May Jean’s memory be a blessing. We are thinking of you and wish you much strength during this difficult time. Nathalie Haccoun and Richard Salis

His quiet presence will be missed by all of those who knew him. And I will always cherish the special surprise gift I received from him during one of the ArtTram exhibitions. He presented me with an envelope in his handwriting saying “Hommage au tableau de Tamara Zakon” and a typed poem inside. Thank you, Jean.
