My sincerest condolences on the passing of your father and grandfather. Marty was a very kind, compassionate, and caring psychiatrist who was like a 'comforting big teddy bear' for his patients. I remember him always having a smile on his face, a jovial laugh and a twinkle in his eye. I respected Dr. Solomon immensely and consider myself lucky to have had the pleasure of working directly with him (albeit briefly) in Child OPD until his retirement. May his family be comforted by their fond memories of him.

My condolences to the family of Dr. Solomon. I worked in child psychiatry and have many fond memories. Hearing his laugh from the end of the hallway I knew I was on the right floor! Moving through the adult wing in one day and making him coffee after he walked to coronation school to see the children and staff. He was a kind and caring man and no doubt he will be missed!

My sincere condolences to the family of Martin Solomon. I worked with him in child psychiatry at the Jewish General Hospital until his retirement. In his gentle and modest way, he led the department through some very challenging times. He was respectful and supportive of his patients as well as his colleagues. He also spoke so warmly of his family. I am saddened by his passing and I hope that happy memories will sustain you, the members of his family, through this very difficult time.

Sandra and I are so sorry to learn of the loss of Marty who was a dear colleague for almost 50 years. Previous to joining the Jewish General Hospital he was on staff of Sainte-Justine and he spoke French fluently. Marty succeeded me as director of JGH Child Psychiatry from 1977 to 2004 when he expanded and strengthened the department with many innovative programs and services. He was brilliant, warm, sensitive and creative. His Haiku poems could capture an entire evening in 3 perfect lines. Marty was an outstanding teacher and mentor: sensitive, empathic, and learned. He was overly modest and never sought the limelight. Marty spoke often of Cecile and his children with loving pride. His achievements and his contribution to our community were many. He was a good friend who is sorely missed. Ron and Sandra Feldman

I am very sorry to learn of Marty’s passing and which to offer the family my deepest sympathies . I had the privilege of working closely with Marty during his time as Director of JGH Child Psychiatry. He successfully lead us through many challenging times and made many significant contributions to the development and achievements of the Child Psychiatry Day and Evening Hospital Programs, which has provided family focused mental health treatment to thousands of children and families. Marty was an insightful and compassionate clinician, leader, teacher, mentor and friend to all who worked with him. What I will remember most about Marty was the love he had for his wife Cecile, his children and grandchildren, he spoke about them often. They were his greatest pride and joy. May all your precious memories of your father help you through this difficult time.

I wanted to offer my sincere condolences on the loss of your father . I worked with Marty for many years right up until his retirement . I suppose one of the things that stands out in working with Marty was when you were on his team , you always had a voice . He heard each person with respect ,even if he might not have agreed , but was always open and interested in hearing his colleagues opinions . It was an experience of growth and sharing . His continuous learning ,whether it was languages ,poetry or work related topics were inspirational . Some of his insights with regard to families remain with me still .

So sorry to hear about the loss of your father and grandfather. He was my mentor for many years in Child Psychiatry. He was sensitive, insightful and compassionate. He had such a way with words and a turn of phrase, that I would write them down and use them with the children or families I counseled. May your memories sustain you

My sympathy to you all on the loss of your father. I worked with Marty for years and learned so much from him. He was a superb clinician as well as learned in a wide array of subjects. I could rely upon him for an interpretation about a difficult patient as well as for a translation of a Latin phrase. His sensitivity to his patients and true ability to listen to their stories and use them constructively was impressive.
