Dear Malvina and family We were all so moved to hear Neil talk about his father. I too like many others could recount the many many times that Harold gave me guidance, supported my vision and shared his wisdom and experience. His generosity of spirit and kind demeanor always made our council meetings more pleasant. His prudent acumen protected our city finances. Harold was a great teacher and team player. He will always be remembered by his fellow councillors who served with him in Cote Saint Luc. May his memory always be a blessing to you and the entire community. Dida Berku and Jacob Kincler

Dear Malvina, Neil and Donna, I was deeply saddened to learn of Harold's passing. I have great memories growing up in Cote St. Luc and raising my four children there, always following Harold's accomplishments and knowing what a Mentor and Mensch he was to so many, Glenn, Mitchell, Mike and the list goes on. At a personal level, I knew your family as Elaine and Harvey's cousin, he was a respected loved member of your entire family. At this time, I pray the blessed memories of Harold live on in all of you and your children and you know no further sorrow. Harold was my mentor on Cote Saint-Luc City Council. He coached us, as young councillors in our early mandates. He gave wise advice on matters of finance, urban planning and governance. Harold always had a good sense of what was good for the community, for our residents. He would always call when he wanted support for his district and did a great job of convincing us to see things from his perspective. And he was usually right. His years on council were a great benefit to the city. His departure is surely a loss. He will be missed but his legacy, and his name. carries on. Glenn J. Dear Malvina and family, On Sunday we held the 13th annual Sports Celebrity Breakfast, raising over $300,000 for seniors in crisis. When I came home I thought long and hard about Harold and the role the two of us played to create this event from scratch. I remember the call as if it was yesterday. He was vice-president of the Cummings Centre and made me an offer I could not refuse: "Help me start this Breakfast and I will endorse you to run in my old seat for Cote Saint-Luc City Council." Well Harold left a legacy at the Cummings Centre and I can say the same in the city, where the auditorium and a park bear his name. I wrote many stories on him for The Suburban when he handled the finance portfolio on city council; a sharper mind you could not find. For my first few years on council, we'd talk often and he'd shake his head anytime he felt were allocating our dollars incorrectly. He was a wonderful man and I am sorry he had to end his life in such poor health. You can all be proud of what he accomplished!
