Rhona Edith Aronoff Lewinshtein

Passed away peacefully with her family and sister by her side at the Civic Hospital on Monday, March 25, 2024, in her 74th year. Beloved wife of Sam Lewinshtein for 54 years. Loving mother of Daniel (Montreal), and Daphna (Toronto). Babi Reva Aida to Leah, Jonah, and Shira Lewinshtein. Mother-in-Law of Stephanie Katz Lewinshtein, and Jacob Macdonell. Dear sister of Marion Manya Phillips (Stamford, CO). Dear daughter of the late Edward and Rose Aronoff. Also survived by her nieces Einat Bleicher (Tel Aviv), Naama El-fassi (Tel Aviv) and Aliyah Dash (Washington, DC). Born in Montreal, Rhona met her beloved husband in 1968 at McGill University. They went on to have two children together. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and family was everything to her. Professionally, she was an artist by training, but adored all forms of the arts including drawing, piano and art history. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at the Civic Hospital for the wonderful care given to Rhona the past two months.

A Funeral Service will be held Friday, March 29 at 11:00 a.m. at the Jewish Memorial Chapel, 1771 Cuba Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario. The interment will take place Monday, April 1 at 1:30 p.m. at the Mount Royal Cemetery, 1297 Chemin de la Foret, Montreal, Quebec. Shiva will be observed at 38 Chemin Belsize, Hampstead, Quebec, on Monday and Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with evening services at 7:20 p.m. Shiva will continue in Ottawa at 1046 Plante Drive, on Wednesday and Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
