I am heartbroken and stunned. I only just found out and if I am feeling so sad, I can’t even imagine how difficult this must be for Bev’s family. I knew Bev from our days when we were studying to be teachers, to when she sent her kids to Bialik. When we would meet often (always at IGA in the mall) we would talk about teaching and catch up on our busy lives. She was such a positive person and she radiated warmth and sincerity. In my opinion, you will never get over losing her but I hope that over time, your memories of her will carry you through the difficult times.

To Bev's Family: My sincerest condolences on the loss of your beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister/in-law, colleague & friend. I worked with Bev many years ago at Souvenir School. She was always a consummate professional and loved her students. I would see her from time to time at Cavendish Mall but connected again last Fall at the choir at the Creative Social Centre at the Chevra Kadisha. She was fun to be with and sing with. May the family be comforted as the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem and have no more sorrows.

My sincere condolences to the Engelberg and Katz families on the loss of Beverly. We were colleagues at McCaig, and even though we didn’t teach in the same grade level, we would go out for lunch every so often with some of her fellow Kindergarten teachers. Bev would often speak proudly of her family, her 3 children and their accomplishments, and sometimes spoke about her brother Allan and some of his screenplays. We would often commiserate over the long commute between Montreal and Rosemere, especially in the winter. Bev was a dedicated teacher, who always surprised me with her detailed and meticulous lesson plans, even after so many years of teaching! She was a kind hearted and gentle soul, always dressed so stylishly, with a beautiful smile on her face. Upon her retirement, we would bump into each other a few times a year, usually at the Cavendish Mall, and catch up like no time had passed. The last few times we ran into each other, she was “kvelling with naches” over her grandson Hayden, and sharing pictures, as any proud Bubbie would! May your loving memories of Bev be a blessing, and bring you comfort and strength during this difficult time. Elana Miller

Kindergarten teachers are a special breed of teacher - caring, empathetic, compassionate and dedicated. As Beverly was in her professional career, that's how she lived her life. Her warmth and enthusiasm were felt the moment you met her and her smile lit up a room. She was always so positive, kind and respectful of elders, to my family and especially to my parents. Beverly and George were a wonderful team. She will be sadly missed by all those whose lives she touched.

Dear Engelberg family, I was shocked and so sad at seeing Beverley's name and photo in the list of obituaries this morning. I remember you Michael and Caroline when you were three and four years old and attending the Davis "Y" preschool, oh so many years ago and I was the director of the Pre-school departments. Beverley was a gem of a mother and you were wonderful, bright, engaging children. Since then, over the years I often ran into Beverley at IGA or elsewhere. We caught up on your lives and chatted about her teaching. So tragic that she died so young. How fortunate you all are to have been loved by her all her life. I hope that our many memories of a lifetime together and the love and support of family and friends will ease your pain at this difficult time. My deepest sympathy to all of you Eva Kuper

Dearest Engelberg Family, I was so heartbroken when I heard the news this morning of Beverly's passing. Beverly was a beautiful soul who always greeted me with a kind smile. Her unconditional love for her students and the way she would light up whenever speaking about her own children, were two of her MANY beautiful traits. She was always positive and demonstrated a genuine interest in other people's lives. Beverly was also incredibly funny and most memories that I have of her are her smiling and laughing. Beverly had style and grace and she will live on in many teachers' hearts as well as the hearts and memories of all of the students who had the great pleasure and privilege of having her as their teacher.
