Sheila, I am so sorry to hear of Isaac's passing. He was a wonderful, kind man and terrific MD who was adored by his young patients. Lots of many fond memories of those days we worked together at the Montreal Children's, and also when we caught up, so to speak, each year at the Beth Ora during Rosh Hashanah. . Please extend my deepest sympathies to the entire family. Sincerely Rick

mona garmaise kleion - 12 days ago

I want to send my condolences to the Fried family. I remember Isaac from Rouyn-Noranda so many years ago. I remember Mr. and Mrs. Fried too, and all the kids. We were a small but tight community and we carried a sense of community long after all of us left. Many years later, on a hectic moving day, my daughter Bonnie, then 11, had an unrelenting nosebleed, and off we sped to Isaac's office. HE was so comforting and helpful and provided relief. I felt sad to hear of his passing.. May you know no further sorrow. Mona

Dear Sheila,Cheryl,Tammy and Lisa, We are truly saddened by the loss of Issac. Issac was not an in-law to the Dalfen family. He was truly a first cousin. Issac was one of the most gentle and sincere men we ever knew. He always had a positive word to say and one never heard him say something inappropriate about any other person. He was also a wonderful doctor. His competence was only superseded by empathy. May he rest in peace on the highest level in the world beyond. We hope and pray that meaningful memories sustain you all. Murray and Karen Dalfen

Dear Fried family, My deepest condolences on your loss. I will always be grateful to the GREAT Dr. Isaac Fried. Back in 1985, I wasn't feeling well and had various odd symptoms. Having been dismissed by many doctors including my then GP, I decided to see Dr. Fried. (I had seen him years prior for an ear issue after a flight.) He took all my symptoms seriously, sent me immediately to a colleague for a consultation and, by the end of the day, I was hospitalized with lymphoma. He truly had excellent judgement. May your family know no more sorrow. Sincerely, Ellen Alfin

Dear Fried Family, My deepest sympathies to you in this most difficult time. I remember play dates with Cheryl at your house and your dad was always present with his gentle demeanor and kind smile. Dr Fried even treated me for fluid in my ear, before I knew what was happening, I felt like parts of my head were being blown out..lol but it worked and I was good as new. My dad speaks very highly of your father/husband as know each other very well from Shul. May you be comforted by all precious memories you have of him and may they help get you through this most difficult time.

Henry Granek - 17 days ago

Although I first met 'Yitzchok' Z"L when he diagnosed my mother Tola Z"L with auditory hallucinations during her battle with Alzheimer's, I really got to know him during years in the 'Y' locker room and shvitz. Eventually I stopped wagging my finger at him for going barefoot and began bringing new footwear for him--again and again. We shared jokes, opined on politics, talked about shul, and I sang to him. But he always came back to talking with such pride about his grandchildren; and after today's funeral, I understand why. The light we saw beaming upon us was, no doubt, Yitzchok in HaOlam HaBa - shepping naches. To Sheila, Max, and family, I offer my heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathy.

Michael Balter and Alonna Goldfarb - 17 days ago

Dear Sheila, Cheryl, Tammy and Lisa We are very sorry for your loss. Dr Fried (Isaac) was always such a kind gentleman (as I am sure you know and are seeing in writing from his numerous friends, colleagues and relatives). I have very fond memories of sitting near Isaac many times as a child and teen at Beth Ora and, although I have been out of Montreal for 30+ years, those nice memories of Isaac remain. When I returned to Montreal many years later to visit my parents, I had an awful sore throat and of course Isaac was happy to see me in his office. After taking a look at my throat, he smiled and said "you have little kids' disease, tonsillitis...you'll be better in no time". Just one example of Isaac's generosity (agreeing to see me on very short notice even though I lived outside the province) and how Isaac had a way of making people happy even when they were feeling awful. Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

Shelley Garellek Mann and Hilary Mann - 18 days ago

Memories of Dr. Fried began in my childhood and continued throughout adulthood....The first is a car ride with my late Uncle Len (Leibel) Frisch to the country house where his good friend, Isaac’s family had a house, the next are weekly home visits from Dr. Fried himself, when I had pneumonia as a child, and onto visits to his CDN office. Whenever I or another family member needed a doctor, we would always get an appointment and most often waited in the crowded hallways filled with all the other patients that Dr. Fried had squeezed into his day, ( we were all in the hallway because his office couldn’t hold any more people). Hilary remembers Dr. Fried from Beth Ora, a kind wise friendly man with a nice word to say about everyone, and he also remembers Dr. Fried playing tennis at the Y, trying to keep up with his wife. The last time I spoke with Dr. Fried, I had accompanied my Auntie Liba Frisch to the Fried house when she was visiting from Israel. The Frieds had a new grandchild visiting and were so happy and proud. My aunt was thrilled that she was able to squeeze in a visit, declaring that Isaac was a dear lifelong friend. Dr. Fried was a special one of a kind human being, a real mensch. BDE.
