Please allow us to submit our sincere and deepest condolences to the family of Bruce Kent and the Team of Bruce Kent. We did meet Bruce the first time in December 2018 and we felt his empathy and brightness in this first moment. The culture he did build in the Bruce Kent Group is something outstanding.

Dear Joelle, Katherine, Victoria and the Bruce Kent Group family, Please accept our most sincere condolences. Bruce really was a one in a million type of guy. Quick witted, smart and exceptional at making people feel good to be with him. We think fondly of the times we spent together. Bruce always had a quick smile and sparkle in his eye when he spoke of his three very special ladies in his life. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

Dear Joelle, Victoria, & Katherine, We are so sad to hear of the loss of your husband and father. Bruce treated everyone he knew as an extension of his family, we were all one Mishpacha. His knowledge, guidance and personal touch was truly unique. When anybody would have a conversation with Bruce it was always thought provoking and intuitive. He was one of those special people that you truly feel blessed to have known and the type of person that leaves a mark within your soul. His legacy is entrenched in all of you and as well within everyone within the Kent Group. A special man, husband, father, friend and human being. Our community has lost a Mench. May you all be spared any further sorrow, and may the gift of Bruce's moral code guide all of you for years to come.

Dear Joëlle, Victoria, Katherine, and the RBC Bruce Kent Group family, Our family sends its deepest condolences to yours. We have known each other a long time, but as time went by, we got to see a side of Bruce that was not only incredibly smart and devoted both to his profession and family, but a lot of fun. We will miss his kindness, passion about things that could otherwise seem dry, and sharp perspective on so many issues. We were blessed to consider Bruce an advisor and friend. The world has lost a real mensch.

I too must join the list of comments and accolades about Bruce. He was such a surprising man. Interestingly, the first time I met him was in the lobby of the David Citadel in Jerusalem. I had no idea who he was. Such a quiet and unassuming individual. Only later did I find out that the man I met was the Bruce Kent. Subsequently we went on to have a wonderful and mutual respect for our community involvement, as well as our common interest in several community projects. I am shocked and saddened by his sudden passing and I wish comfort and peace to all those that mourn for him among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.

Philip Issenman - 22 days ago

It was with great shock and sadness that I received the news from JF.Dion. Bruce has told me that I was his first client some thirty five years ago. During this time we teased each other about whether Harvard , my Alma Mater , or Yale, Bruce’s, would win the annual football game. I had always assumed that Bruce Kent was somehow related to Clark Kent. So it was something of a shock when Bruce told me that he was Jewish. It was on Bruce’s recommendation that we visited The Great Synagogue on a recent trip to Budapest. While there, we reflected on Bruce’s wonderful heritage. My heartfelt condolences to the Kent family and to the Bruce Kent Group. Philip and Nika Issenman

Certain individuals live their life in a manner that makes everyone they touch feel blessed. Their souls are “connected” to a higher power that allows them to give to others selflessly. Bruce was such a man. I feel lonelier now that he has moved on and I will miss him dearly. Thankfully he is etched in my memory forever.

Louis Grossbaum - 22 days ago

To the Kent Family and the Bruce Kent RBC Group please accept my deepest sympathies on the passing of Bruce . I have known Bruce for many years and recall one of our first meetings in his beautiful office in PVM and when I looked around that magnificent office I knew at that time that I was meeting with the ultimate investment advisor. Bruce was the mensch and always seemed to have the time for everyone and a conversation . We met in the shopping promenade at PVM very often and always had a good kibbutz. I know Bruce was a student of Warren Buffet and he told me that Buffet studied or had a guru named Benjamin Graham and that he would send me interesting stuff on Benjamin. Sure enough I received a book and other articles that Benjamin Graham was born Benjamin Grossbaum in London in 1899. I always told Bruce that when I retired I would do a family tree and maybe through him I will find out I am related to Warren Buffet. I now have a project and it will be named in Bruce’s honour. Bruce RIP my dear friend and I trust the family will be spared of all future sorrow

Dear Joëlle, Victoria and Katherine, Mindy and I were heartbroken when we learned of Bruce's passing. From the first time that I sat with Bruce almost thirty years ago, I could sense that he was different. He made no promises other than to work hard for me. All these years later, I can say that he kept his promise. He not only worked hard for me, he worked hard for everyone; his family, his team, his clients and the charities that he supported. We offer you our most sincere condolences and sympathy at this very sad time. May your warmest memories bring you comfort. Lorne & Mindy

Bruce was indeed a unique individual. He knew what he wanted and went out and did it. That included his work, where he was undoubtedly the best at what he did, but also his charitable work where he always surpassed the goals that were set. This even included golf, which he took up a few years ago. He took lessons so he wouldn’t embarrass himself and when I played with him, in his first year of playing golf, I couldn’t believe how proficient he was. But that was Bruce. However, his loyalty to his family is what truly set Bruce apart. He loved Joelle and “his girls“ unconditionally and set an example for all of us on how he treated his late mother. My deepest condolences to the family. May you be spared further sorrow.

Larry Markowitz - 22 days ago

To the Kent family, Last year, I had the opportunity to work with Bruce on a project relating to the Montreal Holocaust Museum, alongside several of my colleagues at NATIONAL Public Relations. Bruce’s tireless devotion to preserving the memory of victims of the Holocaust, and to the wider cause of human rights, was an inspiration and set an example for the whole team. Bruce was highly respected in his professional life, where he served as a role model to his colleagues and peers, and a trusted advisor to his clients. His kindness and generosity marked his numerous accomplishments in the philanthropic and community spheres. We offer you our deepest sympathies. May his memory be a blessing and may you be spared further sorrow. He will be missed.

Dear Joelle and family. Dagmar and I are so sad to hear the news of Bruce’s untimely passing. Bruce was the advisor I most admired at RBC Dominion Securities. I was always extremely impressed with his knowledge and work ethic, the generosity with which he shared his time and I was particularly grateful for the many hours he spent in Toronto coaching my team on what it meant to be preeminent within our field of endeavour. We shared great banter over memorable meals together, with our last being in Venice with Joelle and Dagmar where we got to see his fun side. I will miss bending Bruce’s ear in the future but I am so grateful for the friendship and counsel he afforded me. Our deepest condolences to you and your family.

For Bruce's family and his work family, I just heard about Bruce, and am so sorry to hear of his passing. I am completely surprised, of course, and so very, very saddened. My heart goes out to you as I am sure this is a great loss in your lives, and in the lives of all of your extended family and colleagues. I am very grateful I got to spend time with Bruce and team in Omaha - a memorable trip that was so educational, personal, and fun. I am also happy I’ve had the chance to meet Bruce’s daughters - who he was obviously so proud of. He spoke of his family with such love and reverence; it's clear how close you were. Bruce also spoke of his professional team with great confidence and respect; I am fortunate our family was and continues to be in such competent professional hands. Sending best wishes for a meaningful healing journey. warmly, Terri Hawkes

Dear Joelle,Victoria,Katherine and the Bruce Kent Group, I am shocked and saddened to hear of Bruce’s passing . My sincerest condolences to the family and the entire Bruce Kent Group. The first time I met Bruce was I believe over 20 years ago maybe more . I sat down with him and my father and all Bruce talked about was Warren Buffet . Bruce was so intrigued by this man by the way Warren went about investing . I had no idea at the time who Warren Buffet was but During our meeting I saw the passion and love he had for being a Portfolio Manager . He really and truly loved what he did . He also went out of his way to give my son an internship at RBC which was beyond nice of him and will never be forgotten . What really stood out was his love for his family. The last time I saw Bruce was at his anniversary party. Bruce gave a speech and in that speech Bruce spoke with such pride about his family . You clearly heard the love he had for his mother, his wife and especially his daughters . Bruce was beaming with such pride . Bruce also left his second family The Bruce Kent Group where he added three wonderful partners . I know Bruce wouldn’t have done this change if he didn’t have the full confidence in them . He was right they have done an excellent job . The Bruce Kent legacy will live on . Bruce will never be forgotten . May he Rest In Peace . May you all be spared from further sorrow .

Carolyn Weiss Broda - 22 days ago

Dear Joelle, Victoria and Katherine, What a shock to hear of Bruces passing. I worked with Aggie for many years and always heard wonderful stories about Bruce, you and the children. Also when Aggie and George arrived in Montreal, they lived for a short while with my late parents Clara and George Weiss. The last time I saw you all, you were celebrating Aggie’s birthday at Gibby’s. I didn’t know Bruce well, but through the many stories and accomplishments I felt like I did. So so sorry for your loss. May his memory keep him close to your heart.

What a terrible loss our city has suffered. For such a fine man as Bruce to be taken at age sixty, what an inexplicable, intolerable loss. We must and will remember Bruce for the countless accolades he won by virtue of his accomplishments as an investment professional, philanthropist and involved citizen. Each and every award, recognition and honour bestowed upon him were more than deserved – they had been painstakingly earned. Into each and every one of his endeavours Bruce put his mighty heart, in addition to his formidable intellect. At the same time he brought to his profession, his causes, his projects a character that reaped only sincere admiration; a character that combined boldness with grace. His way with the affairs of business inspired confidence, and his way with diverse people ignited friendships. Bruce defined both worldly and personal success. He often did it by making the difficult look easy. He was a superb individual; he was a mensch. If he had lived his rightful portion there is at least one more tribute Bruce would have surely won. It is a tribute that he merited as a family man, businessman and citizen. Let us bestow that title now. Bruce Kent was, by every measure and in every manner, a Great Montrealer. Cielo and Michael Carin

Dear Joelle, Victoria and Katherine - My deepest condolences to each of you. I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Bruce. I learned a lot from him and he was an inspiration to me. Every few years, our paths would cross at an airport on our way to Omaha and we would sit together for a quick bite. Of course, we would speak about our industry - Bruce was rightfully proud of the practice he built. He was most passionate though talking to me about you, Victoria and Katherine. Rest In Peace, Bruce.

So many years ago when I was the Director of the Douglas Hospital Foundation, I met Bruce, a bright young man who was an asset to the Foundation board. His upbeat demeanor and clear thinking gave a fresh lift to the fundraising efforts. He introduced me to his lovely young wife and the circle was complete. He will be sorely missed by all whose path he crossed.

I found the answer on my own This 54year old rookie listened to this investment star almost 23 years my junior and was in the end very thankful for his age advice. He could have just ignored me . But he chose not to Robert Elman

Robert Elman - 22 days ago

My sincerest sympathies to the Kent Family He left you too soon but what a legacy he has left I knew but a bit of Bruce’s life. I was a young 54 year old technology entrepreneur when I sold my business and returned after 23 years absence to the investment business. I was hired by RBC in 1997 As all rookies , I was required to start over from scratch and take all the basic courses. There was one Sat. Afternoon where I was struggling with a question and approached Bruce who was working away on this afternoon ,I asked Bruce were it to be ok if called our Mgr. a question. I was shocked and embarrassed by his words and tone. After all I had been quite successful And was 20 years his Sr. But I followed his direction and persevered and found the answer on year young star who could have said we was too busy. But no, he responded, and we was correct. Sometime later I thanked him for his wisdom. He was a very hard working ,focused, and disciplined professional. He shall be missed by many but mostly and especially by his family I wish you all long lives and cherished memories Robert Elman

We write these words on behalf of the Raoul Wallenberg Centre for Human Rights. It is with much sadness that we learned of the passing of one of our distinguished Board Members, Bruce Kent, of blessed memory. Bruce was a most valued member of our Board who enjoyed the respect of all as a person of principle and integrity. The founding of the Centre was inspired by and anchored in Raoul Wallenberg’s humanitarian legacy – how one person with the compassion to care and the courage to act can confront evil, prevail, and transform history. Bruce’s late mother, Agnes Kent, of blessed memory, was among the tens of thousands of Hungarian Jews who were rescued by Swedish diplomat Raoul Wallenberg during the Second World War when he served in Budapest. Bruce was determined that no one, especially young people, should forget what Holocaust survivors, like his mother, experienced long after they would no longer be alive to bear witness. In honour of his mother, and in the belief that educating future generations about the universal lessons of the Holocaust was imperative, Bruce not only made important contributions to the Montreal Holocaust Museum and the Canadian Society for Yad Vashem, but also to the Raoul Wallenberg Centre for Human Rights. Our heartfelt condolences to Bruce’s wife, Joëlle, and to his daughters, Victoria and Katherine. May you be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem, and may his memory serve always as a blessing.

Sharon Steinberg - 22 days ago

We have lost a champion. His deeds are lasting. His memory will surely live on. May you know no further sorrow.

i am still trying to reconcile the news with the person i knew. When Nathalie called she said that you guys were friends first - and thats exactly how i wanted it. Bruce embodied all i wanted from a financial adviser and thus i saw no need to discuss the portfolio details that he loved so much. Great memories of Omaha and was so looking forward to going again. Words cant express thoughts towards his family. but what a legacy. Peace to All. Jeff
