Dear Singerman Family: I am so sorry to see that Ellie lost his valiant fight so I am extending my sincere sympathies to you all. Ellie was a great guy always wanting to contribute to the happiness of others by giving of himself to his family, to his friends and to the community. I'll never forget his excitement and devotion that he gave to the Concordia Chapter of Bnai Brith's production of Shmeisman where my late husband Bobby was the producer and Ellie was, of course, the musical director. What fun it was for all! Over the years we drifted apart but Ellie's generosity of spirit was always there whenever we did meet. May the wonderful words and memories expressed here and in your own hearts bring some solace during this difficult time.

Dear Janette, Ruthie, Mike and family, Ellie was so special to me growing up. Even though you both had more than a Brady bunch of your own, you both always welcomed me as one of your kids. (And I was at your house often!) One of the most salient memories that comes to my mind is starting at your house to prep for Ruthie and Pete's wedding with you both. Another is picking Ruthie and Wiley up at your house for lots of walks on the mountain. And as an adult, Ellie pushing me to date Mike-ee :) I am sending a virtual hug until I can give you one in person.

A friend pointed out a plaque with a saying " when you see a cardinal, it is a visitor from heaven". I've seen two in the last few weeks. Ellie was a part of our family, one of my parent's social circle that helped to shape my childhood. Always with a joke, or a funny story, he was eager to bring laughter to all of our gatherings. A Mr. Fix it and a tinkerer, he was a creative handyman. He will be missed. We will embrace him and share him with others, and tell jokes and funny stories at gatherings in fond tribute to him. Jeanette, Dougie, Jamie, Michael and all who knew him as we did, our thoughts are with you. Take good care of yourselves.

We sang together for many years in the Dorshei Emet Kol Nidre Choir, where his musicianship and sense of humour were inspirational, along with the candies he so cheerfully handed out. Even when he could no longer participate officially, Ellie continued to encourage the choir, and we always noticed him singing along. Though his voice has been stilled, the memories of this lovely man will live on. May his memory forever be a blessing. Snookie Lieff
