To the Rakita family: I bought David's home - YOUR home - MY first home - on Circle Road 27 years ago. David impressed me greatly. A true gentleman, a man of his word and a wonderful soul who, when he gave me the keys, wished me the tremendous happiness he and his family had shared in that home, who came to my door soon after on our first Shabbat with a challah, honey, a heartfelt card and my first 1000$ bill, and who left me an indelible memory of a kind, gentle human being. I am truly sorry for your loss. Faye Swift

I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Mr . Rakita. During the early eighties I on numerous occasions purchased lots from him at Continental. I remember clearly dealing with an authentically generous and kind man ...a real gentleman ...who was always humble and kind ..irregardless of his signifigant success. A real class act who never forgot his early business beginnings and always gave the little guy a very fair break. Rest in peace David ...you made the world a nicer place . To the Rakita family my heartfelt expression of sympathy . With the utmost respect ...Robert Hoffman

Hi Susan, Sam and Lou, I was shocked to hear of uncle Dave's passing. He had a special place in my heart as my godfather and like all the Rakita men they had a larger than life presence. Your comments about his musical prowess was well known in the family and i can remember seeing a drum kit in the basement. Although I never got to hear him play, my dad used to talk about his brother Dave's ability to pick up an instrument with no lessons and start playing. Hope you have a quick and easy service and condolences from the Raķita family

Dear Louis, Susan and Sammy. On behalf of my brother Les, my sister Sharon and myself, please accept our sincere condolences on the death of your dad. David and Helen were our parents' best friends and I personally remember spending so much time at the house in Trout Lake and in Chomedy and on Circle Road. So many great memories. Your dad was always smiling and so friendly, and a great friend to our dad, Morrie. David was also super generous, a really kind man. In the last few years before my mom died, she would visit your dad often at the Waldorf, and so he remained her friend until she died in 2012. May you find comfort in the wonderful memories you made together, and the love he was able to give to you all. Marlene
