My very sincere condolences on the passing of your much loved wife, mother, grand-mother, and great grand-mother. She was a very special person, one could call on her for anything, and she was right there, ready to help in any way that was needed. I had the immense good fortune to have known her since high school days, and to have been a recipient of her warmth and hospitality at your beautiful country house on numerous occasions, when our highest group had our reunions. We would all sit around in our pajamas and talk and laugh and eat and reminisce about our behaviour and the fun we all had together -on going. She was so proud of all of you, and we got to know you through that pride. I know that she will be so sorely missed by each one of you, and she will also never be forgotten by her many friends. My love and best wishes to all of you that the so many happy memories of her will sustain you. Irma Berlin

Dear Moe, Bruce, Norman, Linda, Sandra & the whole Yoffe family, my deepest condolences on Barbara's passing. May Barbara's memory be a blessing. When I think back on my childhood, I'm filled with such nostalgic memories of Barbara. Sandra, with the countless sleepovers at your house & the Country house (old & new), your mom's generosity & hospitality knew no bounds. From the chocolate birthday cakes she made for you with the pennies baked inside, to the endless bowls of Kraft Dinner she used to make for us, to greeting us after school and asking how our day at school was, I was like one of her own. She was truly one of a kind & she will be dearly missed. She will always hold a special place in my heart. All our love, Janice & Stephen & family.

Uncle Moe, Bruce, Norman, Linda and Sandra, My Auntie Barbara was a woman so passionate, full of love and energy, so caring and so loving. She was strong, funny, witty, and fiercely protective of those she loved and cared for. You didn’t mess with my Auntie Barbara. She was a lioness and the leader of her family. I can never forget how she welcomed the Katz family into your family whether it was fantastic Passover Seders followed by watching the Habs playoff game in your basement, Summer weekends at your country house, spaghetti sauce from the freezer, working with her and Uncle Moe making mittens or wearing Bruce and Norm's hand-me-down clothes and skates -- we always felt like we were part of the family. The memories of those special times when we were growing up right through university are some of the happiest times of my life. Auntie Barbara was always willing to give her time, her love and her encouragement and help others, always there with a hug or with words of encouragement and support. She made sure you realized your true potential and pushed all of us to our highest level of achievement with her “gentle” prodding and her honesty. I send you all my love and my deepest condolences as you say goodbye to your wife, your mother and my Auntie Barbara. We love her and will miss her deeply. May she now rest in peace ans may you all find the strength together though this difficult time. Please accept our condolences and love to the whole Yoffe Clan from the Katzes in Charlotte. Bobby, Tina, Marcus and Luca

Dear Moe , Bruce , Norman , Sandra and Linda. So sorry to hear of the passing of Barbara. She was the only person that I can say knew me since birth. A wonderful lady. As we both have our cottages on Grand lac long she was always welcoming when I zoomed in on my jet ski for a visit. Also the only person I allowed to call me Waynie. After all she had been doing that since Bruce Norman and myself played together as truble makers on Cavendish . I will truly miss her . She was a special person.

I can’t believe my ´almost’ sister is gone. Moishe my soul is aching and my heart is breaking that only a little over 8 months ago she cried so hard at my darling Abe’s burial. Barbara can never be replaced because the mound was thrown away. Come next September will be exactly 70 years since Barbara made the first move to befriend me during the start of our first year at McGill. I knew no one. No one from my school, except one boy (with whom we became good friends after graduation) in my class (Commerce) came from where I lived so far away. Barbara made sure I wan’t lonely during study tim, or between classes, she made sure I was okay. She and. Moe and Abe and I began a life-long friendship. They were best man and matron of honour at our wedding. Barbara loved the shoes from that day so much that she kept them until a few months ago realizing she wouldn’t wear them again. We visited happy Barbara when Bruce, Linda, Norman and Sandra were born so to you all I express my deepest condolences. Barbara always said we were ´family’ and we always felt that at Seders at your home Moishe and at High Holy days also. So many wonderful memories. Those and the thousands of photos Barbara kept so beautifully in those albums will I’m sure serve to remind you every day what privileged people we all were to have had her in our lives. Be at peace my beloved Barbara.

My family and I have very fond memories of spending time with your gang at the Tompkins's cottages in Grand Lac Long all those years ago. Recently I had the opportunity to talk to Barbara myself and hear how she spoke with such pride about her family. She was kind, warm and down to earth. Dear Moe, Linda, Sandra, Bruce, Norman and the entire Yoffe family: I was so blessed to have known Barbara for so many years. From my earliest days growing up at Grand Lac Long, I always felt like Moe and Barbara were like second parents to me - even as I tagged along after the older (and much hipper) Yoffe kids. It was a special bond and I know Barbara took tremendous pride in her family - and I always felt I was part of that extended family (even to this day). I will miss Barbara terribly, and I know she leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. You have all my support, Yoffes. Love - Dan Rosenstein

Dear Moe and Family, Babsie was one of a kind, she lit up a room. So many fond memories are flooding back . I often babysat the kids, in fact my first babysitting job was for Barbara and Moe. It didn't go so well, I had to call my mother to come over to change diapers! We had such wonderful times at family reunions up north. Babsie went out of her way to make sure everyone felt at home and welcomed them with open arms. She left an enduring legacy for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. We are so fortunate to be part of her loving family. When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure. She will be sorely missed.

Marjorie Mayers - 8 days ago
Dear Moe and family, Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of your beloved Barbara. She was a most wonderful woman, kind and connected to her family and her friends. I was lucky enough to be witness to the exceptional kind of friend she was to my mother Eunice Mayers, and to the group of wonderful women who, for 74 years, were dear friends to each other. Their group serves as a model of friendship as they were untied together in all stages of their lives from high school through to parenthood and onto (great) grandparenthood. This gaggle of friends had monthly lunches and periodic splendid weekends up north and held each other up through life's joyous and more difficult times. I know the women who remain, including my mother, are so deeply saddened to have lost one of their best friends. And by extension, and having had my own meaningful connection to Barbara whenever our paths crossed, I knew her to be a dear, warm, lovely, down to earth, interested in others, engaging person. May she rest easily now and may her kindness continue to serve as a guiding light to all that knew her. Much love, Marjorie

Dear Moe and the whole Yoffe family, It is difficult to describe what Babsie meant to me. I have so many wonderful memories! She was truly a special person who always cared about others. I remember when we would go to the country house for the family reunions that she and Moe would organize on the July 1 holiday, and the first words out of her mouth after hugging and kissing us, were "Get something to eat!". She even had the courage to hire me as a babysitter for her children when I was a young teen! Her smile and love she felt for others were infectious. Just a few months ago she wanted to make sure that I got a copy of our family tree and went out of her way to mail it to me. Babsie was one of a kind. You were blessed to have had her as your wife, mom, grandmother and great grandmother and I was blessed to have had her as my cousin.

Dear Uncle Moe, Bruce, Norman, Linda, Sandra, and families: We are incredibly saddened by the news that my Aunt Barbara has passed away. She had a wonderful life, surrounded by loving family and friends. It seemed as if she and Moe were always there for us whenever we needed them, and I have a flood of memories going back 60+ years; seders at Nana and Zaida's, birthday parties at Cavendish, vats of food being prepared to serve to guests, car rides in the back compartment of the old Stationwagon, days at the country house in Lantier and later on the lake near Bnai Brith, etc. She was the kindest, most grounded, humblest and most loving person I have ever known. She always put others ahead of herself. I will miss her deeply.

I have fond memories of our many summers at Tompkins "Green Acres" and I'll always remember Barbara's constant smile, her laugh, and her twinkly eyes. She and Moe were a wonderful couple who did so much good in the community. I haven't seen most of you in years and years but I would frequently bump into Barbara and Moe when we still lived in Montreal, always greeted with obvious pleasure and interest in my life at that moment. Dear Uncle Moe, Bruce, Norman, Linda, Sandra, and families: Please accept our deepest condolences for the passing of your loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Aunt Barbara was indeed a very special person, a loving individual who always made everyone feel important. She never forgot a birthday or anniversary or any other celebration and ensured that she expressed her well-wishes with sincerity and enthusiasm. From the first day I met her well over 40 years ago as I became part of the family it was crystal clear that one could expect to always feel welcomed. There was always joy in her voice and it seemed that everyone around her reveled in the happiness that surrounded her. I'll always be grateful to her and Uncle Moe for ensuring that our children were safe when they attended Camp B'nai Brith so many years ago, inviting them into their home and catering to them as if they were royalty. It was quite apparent that that was their usual way of treating everyone. Indeed Aunt Barbara had a special gift that few can match. She set an amazing example for the rest of us all to follow. What a special person she was!!! How proud you must all be of her.

My heartfelt sympathies go out to everyone fortunate enough to have been blessed with Barbara's presence in their lives. She was and will always remain one of those women who demonstrated strength, compassion, and most importantly LOVE towards all those who crossed her path. She believed with every fiber of her being that everyone was deserving of her friendship. During trying times, she always knew what to say to bring cheer and happiness to those faced with difficult times, as she did with me. With her loving smile, her heartfelt hugs and words of wisdom, Barbara, like a magic wand, made everything better. I will miss her so.
