Maurice Israel

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Maurice Israel, who died peacefully and surrounded by family on April 16 at the age of eighty-two.  Beloved husband of Malka/Marilyn for more than fifty years. Cherished father and father-in-law of Miriam and Eduardo, and deeply adored grandfather of Marcelo. Beloved son of the late Marcelle Zandsberg and the late Marco Israel. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Shaul and Daniella, and Racheline and the late Antonio, as well as his in-laws Leo and Sylvia, and Charles and Val. Maurice will be greatly missed by his many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and cousins among the Zandsberg, De Cecco, and Strawczynski families as well as by his many dear friends.

The family would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers from the CLSC Réne-Cassin and NOVA, as well as the Jewish General Hospital, especially Doctors Ferrario and Labidi, and their entire team. Most importantly, the family would like to extend its appreciation and gratitude to Dasha Protasova who provided loving care to Maurice for three and a half years.

Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. West, on Friday, April 17 at 1:00 pm. Burial to follow at the Beit Abraham Family Estates section, Kehal Israel Cemetery, D.D.O. The family will be receiving condolences immediately following the burial at 7905 Ch. de la Côte St. Luc (in the basement common room). Shiva at 7905 Ch. de la Côte St. Luc, Apt. 608 on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. daily.
