PLEASE NOTE : Funeral will take place at 2:00 p.m. (PCT) in Vancouver and therefore, 5:00 p.m. (EST) in Montreal.

With sad hearts, we announce the death of Solomon (Sol) Zuckerman, age 86, on August 14th, 2026.
Sol was born in Montreal and also lived in Toronto, Florida and Vancouver.
Sol was enthusiastically involved in many institutions: He was Past President of the Adath Israel Synagogue in Montreal, President of Free Hebrew for Juniors, and Giant Steps, a school for autistic children. Sol served on the International Board of Shaare Zedek Hospital in Israel, the boards of Hebrew Free Loan, The Shul at Bal Harbour, Young Israel of Hollywood Beach, Hebrew Academy of Miami Beach, Aventura Hillel School and House of Israel in Saint Agathe amongst many others.
In his younger years, he was ‘le Roi du Raffle’, raising substantial funds for the YMHA, the Montreal Torah Centre. The Friendship Circle and Adath Israel Synagogue. His honours include the Israel Peace Medal and the Lou Wener Humanitarian Award.
Sol was equally passionate about business and his disparate interests are remarkable. He was given the Canadian Award for entrepreneurship. He was chairman of Kodiak Footwear, Charan Industries and owner of Disco 1234. He was founder and original board member of Milos N.Y. and Oceania Cruise Lines. His lecture on ‘entrepreneurship; is still screened for business students at Montreal’s Hautes Etude Commerciale (HEC) and he was always available to share his advice and mentor young business people.
He is survived by his wife Anna, his children Shawn, Sasha, Ariel and Rae-Dawn, his grandchildren Zachary, Sitaara, Kalel, Shiloh, Lila, Marlowe, and Rowan, and his sisters Paula (Pesh) and Recia.
Funeral will take place on Monday, August 17th at 2:00 p.m. (Pacific time) at the Schara Tzedeck Cemetery, 2345 Marine Dr., New Westminster BC
