Holocaust Survivor
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Brian Cytrynbaum on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.
Born in Poland (1938), he was a Holocaust survivor who immigrated to Canada in 1960, and became a successful Montreal developer. A remarkable man whose love of life left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
The beloved son of the late Majer Leizer and Szajndle Cytrynbaum, the cherished brother of Mario Cytrynbaum (Danielle), and Lydia Wagman, her late husband Sam, and predeceased by sister Cyla Putzer and late husband, Peter. He is survived by his four sons, Avi, Daniel (Jeff), Oren, and Eli, who were his greatest pride and joy. He also leaves behind the mother of Avi, Daniel, and Oren, his first wife Tova, and his loving and devoted wife Sara, Eli’s mother, whose love, support, and unwavering devotion to him were unparalleled. Cherished Zaid of Noam, and Oliver. A proud uncle of: Becky, Suzy, Henny, Jeanny, Jennifer, Jeffrey, David, Richard, the late Scott, and the late Robert.
A devoted family man, Brian passed on strong Jewish values and the spirit of resilience. He found his greatest joy in life’s moments: playing racquet sports, spending time in the Laurentians, or enjoying the simple pleasure of coffee in Little Italy.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to his devoted caregivers, Ruby, Aileen, Lisette, Lhea, Josie, Edna, Marie and Lehx. Special thanks as well to Dr. Chang, Dr. Levinoff, Dr. Pancer, Dr. Wojick, and the entire team at the Jewish General Hospital and Hatzoloh.
Funeral service from Paperman & Sons on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Burial at the Adath Israel Section, Baron De Hirsch Cemetery, De la Savanne. Shiva at his home. Donations in his memory may be made to the Jewish General Hospital, 514-340-8251 or to the Hatzoloh, click here.
His legacy lives on through his family, his story, and the countless lives he touched.
