Peacefully, on Monday, October 26, 2026. Beloved wife of the late Gabie. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Allan and Fern, Barry and Mariola, Marlene and Rodney. Amazing grandmother of Jaclyn, Ryan, Kevin; Arielle, Dariusz; Allysa and Harley. Dear sister and sister- in-law of Ann and the late Melvin Diner, the late Sam and the late Ettie Grossman. We would like to thank her caregivers, Aurora and Mary Ann, for all their love and support. We would also like to acknowledge Sandy and the staff at Maimonides on 6 South for all of their care.  Doreen accomplished so much throughout her life. She graduated from McGill University with a degree in Commerce in 1952, at a time when few women pursued this field of study. She served as President of the Concordia B’nai Brith chapter and President of the Board of Directors at Hillel Montreal. In addition to raising her children, Doreen pursued a variety of interests and professional roles. She worked as a teacher, served as a guide at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, led walking tours of Old Montreal, and taught English to executives and business owners in Montreal, including those at Cirque du Soleil. At times headstrong, Doreen was always principled and ethical, with a deep-seated compassion for the underdog. She cherished her friendships, from her early years at university to the friendships she made at Maimonides, including Ruth Ornstein-Bier. Socializing with friends brought her joy and made her feel truly alive. Above all, Doreen was immensely proud of her family, both her children and her grandchildren. In her later years, she often expressed how fortunate she felt and how grateful she was to have lived such a wonderful life. Doreen was the beloved matriarch of her family. She will be deeply missed by her family and by all those whose lives she touched.
