Internment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto, ON

Peacefully, surrounded by family, after a long and courageous fight with a brain tumour. Cherished daughter of Karen and Richard Benzakein. Loving mother and northern star of Max and Asher Braunstein. Beloved wife and best friend of David Braunstein. Dear sister of Greg Benzakein. Daughter in law of Sergiu and Gila Braunstein, and sister-in-law of Mark Braunstein. Granddaughter of Morris and Anne Benzakein, Evelyn Huberman, and the late Germaine Benzakein. Dedicated dog mom of Charlie. Cherished niece, aunt, and cousin to many.

Kerry was always wise beyond her years. She chose to live a life of love and kindness, which she received in return. She also knew that the key to a fulfilled life is to fill it full, which she did with with family, friends, the law, and books. Home was the focal point of her life where everyday meals, holidays, and celebrations were animated by her story telling, laughter, wonderful meals, and sage advice. If she was not celebrating life with friends and family at home she was doing so at their homes or on vacations in Florida, New York, Montreal, or lakes across Ontario. Kerry also combined her love of running, the outdoors, and Charlie into frequent adventures across the the ravines and beaches of Toronto.

Kerry satisfied her enormous intellectual curiosity and honoured the law every day of her working life. She was a skilled prosecutor whose great intellect was matched by her work ethic and dedication to mentoring. There was no assignment too complicated for or beneath Kerry, who cherished every moment on her feet. She was respected by colleagues across the bar and law enforcement. Kerry took enormous pride in the brilliant group of colleagues and friends she amassed over her short life, but nothing matched the enormous pride she took in raising Max and Ash and witnessing them achieve so much success and happiness in their lives.

Kerry's life filled ours. Kerry's absence is indescribable.
