Peacefully on Monday, August 25th in her 93rd year. Beloved wife of the late Sol. Daughter of the late Jack and the late Rose Blatt. Devoted mother and mother-in-law of Ivy, Neil and Heather, Leslie and Dave. Adoring Bubba of Vanessa and Josh, Alec, Matt and fiancée Nici, Todd, Hannah and Dario. Very proud great-grandmother of Lucky Solly. Loving eldest sister of Cora (Aaron), Joyce (the late Gilbert), Liz (the late Jim), the late Howard (Felicity); and predeceased by Sol’s siblings and their spouses, Ray (Jack) and Mel (Edith). Margot will be remembered with love by her nieces, nephews, family, and many lifelong friends. The family would like to acknowledge with sincerest gratitude the care and kindness shown to Margot by her cousin, Tonie. Special thanks to her caregivers Claren, Helen, Marisol and Vangie; and to the Doctors, Nurses, PABs, especially Alina and Michel, at Jewish Eldercare K5.
Margot lived her life in full colour — as an artist, a hostess, and a friend who made everyone feel welcome. Her watercolours and silk-screen prints brought beauty into every room, and her legendary parties with her late husband, Sol, filled their home with food, laughter, and music. She was truly the “hostess with the mostest.”
She loved a good game of mahjong or bridge and belonged to the “dollar club” with her closest, lifelong friends. She cheered passionately for her Montreal Expos and Canadiens, and was an avid skier and tennis player until her knees made her stop. A passionate reader, she also loved her soaps — at a young age, her children all knew the characters on One Life to Live by heart.
Margot adored Motown, the Everly Brothers, Guys and Dolls, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and, with her whole heart, her Old English sheepdog, Macduff.
