It is with profound sadness and deep love that the family of Gerald Hirsh announces his passing in the early morning of Shabbat, October 4th, 2025 in his eighty-ninth year, with his devoted loved ones by his side. Gerry left this world peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and community service.

Loving and devoted husband of Freda Zentner, with whom he shared a beautiful life for sixty-five years. Cherished father and father-in-law of Gail and Jeff Spunt, Cheryl Hirsh, Tina and Alan Kholos, Glen and Sofia Hirsh, who will forever hold his love and life lessons close to their hearts. As a Zaidie, he was adored by his grandchildren: Adam and Ali Spunt, Michael and Nina Spunt; Zachary and Alex Richman, Matthew and Andra Richman; Cameron, and Carlyn Kholos, Jonathan, and Jeremy Hirsh. His legacy continues through his beloved great-grandchildren: Tommy and Lucy;  Steven; Ryder and Raye; Blake, and Liam who brought him immense joy and pride. Dear brother of Harvey and the late Shirley Hirsh and brother-in-law of Betty Alce, Max and the late Sandra Zentner, Sam and Tova Zentner, the late Usher Zentner. Gerry will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, family, friends and by all those whose lives he touched. Special thanks to Rona, Miriam, Tisha and Saba for their exceptional care and compassion.

Gerry was a man of great commitment and passion, dedicating countless hours to community service. He was actively involved with Camp B’nai Brith, served as President of Cedarbrook Golf Club, and was an active member of the Beth Zion Congregation. His contributions to these organizations reflected his deep love for his community and his desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others. As we remember Gerry, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and devotion. His spirit will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W. on Monday October 6 at 12 noon. Burial at the Shomrim Laboker Congregation Cemetery, de la Savane. Due to the festival of Succoth, Shiva will end Monday at 5:00 pm.
