1934-2025
Peacefully and surrounded by his loving family, Philip Shaposnick passed on June 6, 2025 at the age of 90. Beloved husband of Bernice (nee Pedvis). Devoted father and father-in-law of Louise Shap and Jeff Miller, and Daniel Shap and Sivan Fox. Treasured Zaida of Ally, Noah and Ethan Shap. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Doris and Richard Stern and Thelma and the late Harry Savelson. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Born in Montreal in 1934, Philip studied law at McGill University and went on to practice for many years at his firm. Always interested in helping others, Philip held many positions in the community, including President of The Lions Club and founding member and President of The Golden Age Association. In the 1970s, along with his wife Bernice, who survives him, he created and starred in the local cable access community program, On Seniors and Aging, which canvased and championed the providers of many Montreal services for the elderly. In later years, he studied at Harvard University and returned to Montreal where he and his wife trained over 1,200 lawyers and judges in the Province of Quebec in mediation. He will always be remembered for his kindness, caring nature and respect of others.
