Jacques Simms (né Simmy Ilovitch)

Peacefully in his 104th year, at home on Sunday, September 20, 2026. Beloved husband of the late Sara. Loving father and father-in-law of Joel Simms and Marleine Thede, Lois and Gary Alexander, Holly Botner and the late Marvin Simms, Terri and the late Maury Simms. Cherished Grandpa of Gabriel and Amanda, Ariel and Lindsay, Zoe; Danielle and Ross, Michelle, and Eric; Jared and Cecilia, Erin and Bill, Adrianne and Jake, and Andrew; Naomi and Jeff, Jesse and Jonathan. Proud great-grandfather of Avery, Zale, Mazie, Isaiah, Kye; Owen, and Lucas; Damian, Chloe, Ziggy; Sam, Dylan, Jordy, and Layla. Predeceased by his dear siblings. 

Special thanks to Diane, Kajen, Ange, Joanne, Carmen, Pamela, Sita, Dr. Marie Claire Thomassin, Fernando, and Daniel for their exceptional care. 

 We are eternally grateful to Eveline Lazda for being part of our family and making such a difference in both of our parents’ lives. 

Funeral service from Paperman and Sons, 3888 Jean Talon West, on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at 1:15 p.m. Burial at the House of Israel Section, Kehal Israel Cemetery, D.D.O. Shiva private. Donations in his memory may be made to the Jacques Simms Memorial Fund, Jewish General Hospital, 514-340-5251.
