Murray Shostak

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Murray Shostak on Saturday, September 19, 2026.

Beloved father of Tanya Strasser Shostak, brother of Helen Frank, and uncle of Brian Karol (Brigid Scullion) and Richard Karol (Melissa Lipson). Predeceased by his sister Mary Karol.

Murray's enthusiasm and passion shone through in everything he pursued. From his distinguished career as a Chartered Accountant and his ventures in real estate to his shared love of equestrian sports with his daughter, Tanya, and his passion for filmmaking, Murray embraced life with remarkable energy and creativity.

Above all, Murray will be remembered for his caring soul, insight, love of animals, and unwavering passion for life and the people around him. His warmth and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Special thanks to Anna Epunzalan and family for their exceptional devotion to Murray, and to the staff at the Montreal General Hospital for their care and compassion.

Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. Burial at the Leslie Hore Belisha Section, Baron De Hirsch Cemetery, de la Savane. Shiva will be held at Richard's home.
