Peacefully on February 12, 2026, in Vancouver, British Columbia at the age of 106. Beloved wife of the late Francis Allan Dunlop for over 58 years. Mother and mother-in-law of Sandy and David Freedman. Grandmother of Lindsay Rosval and Eric Fox, Joanna Rosval and Robert Sabelli, Jessica Rosval, Sarah Freedman and Brandon Besner, and Benjamin Freedman. Great-grandmother of Noah, Dalia, Mila, Jaxon, and Arthur. Family in Vancouver includes daughters Debbie McDougall, the late Dianne and Robert Woodward, and her late son Clifford and Willie Dunlop, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ada will be remembered for her warmth, strength, and the love she so freely gave. Her legacy lives on through the generations she cherished and the countless lives touched. Ada lived a remarkable life defined by service, resilience, and deep devotion to family. During the Second World War, she served in the British Women’s Auxiliary Air Force (WAF), where she oversaw food operations for the troops. It was during this time, at the Croydon Air Base, that she met her future husband who was a member of the first Canadian Air Force squadron to arrive in Britain in support of the war effort. In 1944, Ada arrived in Canada as a new wife and mother, beginning a lifelong chapter rooted in love, family, and community. Ada was a lover of all things sweet, a consummate baker, and frequent host of family dinners and celebrations. She was known for her innocent sense of humor and joyful spirit which endeared her to everyone she met. She was last to leave a party, always on the ‘last bus’, and never missed an opportunity to share her pride in her family—often with complete strangers she met along the way. Services will take place in Vancouver, on February 18. The family in Florida and Montreal will observe Shiva privately.
