Anita Cohen

We sadly announce the peaceful passing of Anita Cohen on June 13, 2025, in Boca Raton, Florida at the age of 85.

Anita was the daughter of the late Minnie and Benny Cohen of Montréal. Anita is survived by her brother, Jerry Cohen and Bonnie Cunningham of Kelowna, Canada, her niece Samantha Cohen and nephew Dylan Thurel of France, and by her cousins, Margaret and Larry Nachshen of Montréal, Canada, and Lara Appleby and James Devall of Medford, Massachusetts. She will also be fondly remembered with love by many more cousins and friends.

Anita was an energetic supporter of the arts, working for several years at the Norman Rockwell Museum and volunteering at Tanglewood and Shakespeare & Company while she lived in Pittsfield, MA. An adventurer at heart, Anita loved traveling the world and formed lasting friendships along the way.

Anita built close loving relationships with family members, friends, a Little Sister (through the Big Sister Little Sister mentoring program), and with those who cared for her in Florida during these last several years as her Parkinson’s progressed. Anita’s family extends its gratitude to Anita’s caregivers, Marie Louis and Tammy Lippert, and to Anita’s cousin, Elliot Goldman, for being there for Anita over the years.

A graveside service will be held at the Jewish Assistance Section, Kehal Israel Cemetery, D.D.O., on June 19, 2025, at 12 noon. Donations may be made in Anita’s memory to the Minnie & Bennie Cohen Fund at the Donald Berman Maimonides Foundation 514-483-2121 ext. 72202 or click here.
