Bella’s 99 years were the definition of a life well lived.

The youngest of 7 siblings, and the only one born in Canada. Bella was the last survivor of her generation.

Struggling with her loss are daughters Lisa (Tom), Rhona (Jacob) and Marlene (Stan), grandchildren Jeff, Pam, Jen, Adam, Sari, Amanda and Ryan, and great-grandchildren Ben, Jared, Eleyna, Gabriel, Maya, Julian, Cali, Lenna, Dean, Nola and Dessa. Every one of them deeply felt and appreciated her unbounded love.

The loss of her life’s companion Ben, far too early, left a large empty space in her life. In her two years at Maimonides, Bella kept asking for Ben to come back to play piano and sing. He is better than all the other entertainers, she would say.

Bella’s brothers Sam, Ben and Aaron and sisters Hattie, Sonia and Sylvia had a very special place in her life. Bella fondly remembered her parents Jacob and Jennie Baylin, and the family’s journey from Russia to Canada. After grandfather Jacob’s untimely passing, grandma Jennie lived with Bella, Ben and the family for two decades.

Bella’s loss leaves a giant gap in the ties that bind three generations of family members numbering well over 50.

The family is grateful to the staff at Maimonides 6 North, and her long-time caregiver Arezou, for their outstanding support.
