After a courageous battle, having previously beaten cancer, on Monday, June 16, 2025. Devoted father and father-in-law of Luna and James. Son of the late Victor and the late Luna Malka. Dear nephew of Esther Benguigui and Bonheur Lowenstein, Lucy Brouillard Benguigui and the late Jacques Isaac Benguigui. Daniel will be fondly remembered by Eve Lazar, his cat Booboo, and by his family and friends.
Daniel was a world renowned, prize-winning photographer. After being diagnosed with lung cancer, he spent the second part of his career as a dedicated naturopath helping others; though he never took life too seriously. His wit and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.
Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Thursday, June 19 at 2:00 p.m. Burial at the Memorial Park section, Baron de Hirsch Cemetery, de la Savane. Shiva at Eve’s home Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., Monday and Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Donations in Daniel’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice.

Après un combat courageux, ayant déjà vaincu le cancer, est décédé M. Daniel Malka, le lundi 16 juin 2025. Père et beau-père dévoué de Luna et James. Fils de feu Victor et de feu Luna Malka. Cher neveu d’Esther Benguigui et Bonheur Lowenstein, Lucy Brouillard Benguigui et feu Jacques Isaac Benguigui. Daniel laisse dans le deuil Eve Lazar, son chat Booboo, ainsi que sa famille et ses amis qui se souviendront de lui avec affection.
Photographe de renommée mondiale et lauréat de nombreux prix, Daniel a consacré la deuxième partie de sa carrière, après avoir reçu un diagnostic de cancer du poumon, à aider les autres en tant que naturopathe (bien qu’il n’a n’ait jamais pris la vie trop au sérieux). Son esprit vif et son sens de l’humour manqueront profondément à tous ceux qui l’ont connu.
Le service funéraire aura lieu le jeudi 19 juin à 14h00 chez : Paperman et fils, 3888, rue Jean-Talon O. L’enterrement se tiendra dans la section le jeudi 19 juin à 14 h. L’inhumation suivra dans la section « Memorial Park » au cimetière Baron de Hirsch, situé à 5015 rue de la Savane. La shiva se tiendra au domicile d’Eve jeudi de 18 h à 20 h, dimanche de 13 h à 17 h, lundi et mardi de 18 h à 20 h. Les dons au nom de Daniel peuvent être faits à la charité de votre choix.
