Shiva will begin Sunday at Diane's home following burial. There is some street parking available, as well as underground at 55 St. Clair Avenue West (Indigo Parking). Shiva will continue Sunday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., and on Monday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Evening services at 7:30 pm. The family will attend the Shacharit service Beth Tzedec Synagogue, 1700 Bathurst Street, on Monday morning at 7:10 am. All are welcome to join. Shiva visits will conclude on Monday evening, September 29th.

On Thursday, September 25, 2025. Diane Abbey-Livingston, leader, facilitator, teacher, coach, mentor and great friend passed away after years of tenaciously facing down her cancers and making the best out of life every day. Predeceased by her husband of more than fifty years, Jack Livingston. Diane was the daughter of the late Monroe Abbey, QC and the late Minnie Cummings Abbey. sister to the late Honorable. Sheila Finestone (Alan), the late Joan Pass and the late Stanley Abbey (Myrna). Diane was a supportive and connected Aunt to eleven nieces and nephews and thirteen grandnieces and nephews. Family members were friends. Friends and children of friends became family. Her homes were always open and more than a few lived with her and Jack or had a regular home away from home. She became the glue hosting weekly shabbat dinners and holiday gatherings. Diane was a learner. She became a sought-after teacher at Ontario Institute for Studies in Education/University of Toronto, mentor and organizational consultant. Her presence, energy, indomitable spirit and compassion will be missed.
