Dr. Melvyn Sandler

Peacefully and with dignity at home on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, surrounded by his family. Beloved husband and best friend of Eleanor (Ellie) (née Lifshitz) for fifty-three years. Loving and devoted father and father-in-law of Neil Sandler and Yasuko Tanaka, and Marcy and Marc Salzberg. Cherished and proud Zady of Maya, Max Salzberg and Rei Sandler. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Rhona and Bruce Caress; devoted brother-in-law of Elliot and Carol Lifson. He will be deeply missed by his nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, patients and colleagues. 

Dentistry was not just his profession- it was his calling. For over fifty-eight years he served his patients by restoring their smiles, healing their pain, and earning their friendship and trust. He will be fondly remembered by his wonderful Dental Assistants Georgia Katsaros and Shelley Guttman. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Dr. Thao Huynh and Dr. Tanya Skamene for their extraordinary care and compassion. Additionally, the family thanks all the wonderful “Angels” of the Oncology Day Center team at St. Mary’s Hospital. The family is also most appreciative for the assistance of the CLSC Renee-Cassin, NOVA Homecare and Aux Trois Sentiers.

Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean-Talon St. W., on Friday October 17, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Burial at the Beth Tikvah Congregation Section, Kehal Israel Cemetery, D.D.O. 

Shiva at 6030 Cavendish Blvd, Côte Saint-Luc, Reception Room Friday following burial until 3:00 p.m. Saturday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Evening services Sunday through Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
