Peacefully at his home, on Thursday, February 5th, 2026. Loving and cherished husband of Rosemary Kaufman for over fifty-six years. Devoted and adored father and father-in-law of Caralee and Jason, Jessica and Dave, and Andy and Neil. Proud Zaidie of Nattie, Gabey, Sami; Junie; Lexi, Tristan, and Joey. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Jeff and Ingrid, and Arlene. Beloved brother-in-law of Maureen and Joel Richler. Steve will be deeply missed by his extended family, friends, colleagues, and all whose lives he touched.
Steve served with distinction as Chief of Hematology at the Jewish General Hospital for many years, where his dedication to his work and compassion for others defined his career. A kind and generous soul, he also found joy in running marathons, playing bridge, and making music. Above all else, he cherished time spent with his family.
Special thanks to Dr. Harvey Chang for his tireless efforts and compassion, the amazing nurses of the JGH Virtual Ward, the wonderful staff of Alzheimer’s Group Inc, the caring staff of Aux Trois Sentiers, and Precy and her band of angels for their dedication, kindness, and love.
