Peacefully, in Montreal on Friday, June 12, 2026, after a lengthy illness. Beloved wife of Samuel Lyon Sachs for an extraordinary seventy years. Together they built a life filled with love, resilience, philanthropy, and conversation. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Richard and Michelle of Ottawa. Cherished Nana of Hannah and Tommy. Predeceased by her beloved parents, Abraham and Vita Weintraub, and by her dear sister, Sonia (Sara) Oberman. Dear sister-in-law of David Oberman.

Dundi was born in Hungary in 1932. She carried with her a deep love of learning, culture and independence throughout her life. She earned her Master’s degree in English from McGill University, and literature remained one of the great passions of her life. She was an enthusiastic patron of the arts, travelling throughout the world to attend theatre productions, literary events, and art exhibitions. Wherever she went, she collected playbills and programs as treasured reminders of experiences that inspired her. She especially loved engaging people in thoughtful conversations about books. Fiercely independent and endlessly curious, Dundi travelled on her own to literary conferences around the world well into her later years- something that reflected both her courage and her spirit.

She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, family members, and by all those whose lives she touched.  The family extends heartfelt gratitude to her devoted caregivers, especially Jackie and Mila, for their compassion, kindness, and support.
