Edna, passed away quietly in the early hours of Thursday, July 31, 2025, after several days of extraordinary love, tears, support and music. Devoted wife of Danny. Proud Ima of Orit (Hagai), Amit and Galit (Daniel). Dear sister of Shimoni Simon (Mary Jane). Passionately obsessed grandmother of Adi and Gili; Jules and Ellie. Deeply loving aunt to Stephanie (Zach), Rebecca, and great-aunt of Jackson and Mia. Daughter of the late Malka (Sasa) and the late Gershon (George) Ginsberg. Edna will be lovingly remembered by her many friends and cousins around the world. She was the matriarch of the Berkover family, with cousins in Israel, the US, UK, Russia and beyond. She loved life so fiercely, fully and never wanted to waste a waking moment. She was a voracious reader, a skilled sewer, could knit a blanket with her eyes closed and crocheted hundreds of kippahs for a variety of family simchas (celebrations). So many talents, so many passions and interests in one human. There was never going to be enough time for her to do all that she dreamed of doing. She gave so much of herself and her time to her family, her friends and community, that her absence will be tangibly felt. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Shannon Salvador and her team and to Dr. Jean Zigby and the nursing staff of 4B at the Jewish General Hospital. Edna was grateful to her doctors and pharmacists that kept her healthy and strong for many long years, developing a friendship with many of them! Special thanks to Danny’s caregivers, Mayolyn, Renee, Maribel, Sally, Jordan, Shantelle, June, Maryann, Taku, Carmen, Lorah, Petra and Sarah, who made Edna’s life comfortable over the last few years.
