1953–2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Henry Kolatacz on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at the Ottawa Civic Hospital.

Beloved husband of Anne, his bashert, and devoted father of Samuel Louis and Oliver David. Loving son of the late Sophie and Sam Kolatacz. Dear brother-in-law of Lene Bech and fond uncle to Christian and Benedicte Bech.

Henry will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by Roman and Lily Wolf, Jerry Maisel and the late Rona Maisel, the late Adi Eisenberg and Katia Zimmerman, Ruth Harper and the late David Harper, Sabrina and Jenna Harper.

Henry was born in Montreal, where he studied Political Science at McGill University, followed by studies at Christ Church, Oxford, England. He then began a career as a diplomat with Foreign Affairs in Ottawa, which took him to positions in Washington, D.C., where he met his wife, Anne, as well as to Warsaw, Poland, Vienna, Austria, and Tel Aviv, Israel. Back in Ottawa, he held positions with the Department of National Defense and the Canadian Security Intelligence Service.

Henry was kind, friendly, humble, loving, and, above all, a devoted family man. He was an unbelievable son, husband, and father who will be missed immensely by Anne, Samuel, and Oliver. He lived every day to the fullest and had a remarkable ability to identify almost any piece of classical music. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
