Surrounded by his books, pipes, and loving family, on Saturday, May 11, 2024, in his eighty-fifth year. Devoted husband of Hilda Osmo Roiter for almost sixty years. Ever-loving and extraordinary father of Bonnie and Kelli. Very proud and treasured 'Poppy' of Sydney and Joshua. Beloved brother and brother-in-law of Gerald and Lynne Roiter, the late Fruma Fleischer; and brother-in-law of Claudine and Serge Kay. Loving cousin of Judith Costin. Son of the late Isobel Kessler and the late  Albert Roiter. Adored by Randy and Stuart Kugler, Charles and Vanessa Kay, and Lucas Teitelbaum. Fiercely passionate Zionist, author of Holocaust books and short stories, Professor of English Literature at l’Université de Montréal for over forty years, poetry and music lover, captivating storyteller, and lifelong student. Always sympathized with the less fortunate and life’s underdogs. A kind and gentle soul who left his mark on everyone he met. Forever reading, learning, and smoking his pipe. A true gentleman.
