Irene Kron (née Herscovici)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, bubby, and friend, in her ninety-fourth year. Beloved wife of the late Theodore Kron.

Devoted mother and mother-in-law of Michael Kron and Dr. Heidi Abergel. Cherished Bubby of Nathan, whom she loved beyond measure. Loving daughter of the late Gustav Herscovici and Gisela Kimmerling.

Irene will be deeply missed by Audrey and Daniel Abergel, her relatives in Israel, and her many dear friends and former colleagues around the world.

Born in Bucharest, Romania, Irene enjoyed an idyllic childhood until 1947, when communism took hold. In 1956, she emigrated to Israel with much of her family, where, alongside her entrepreneurial father, they worked tirelessly to build a new life.

In 1967, Irene moved to Montreal, where she rebuilt her life, raised her family, and quickly learned English as her fourth language. Blessed with a sharp mind for logic and numbers, she became a respected bookkeeper and controller, enjoying a successful and fulfilling career until the age of 80.

Irene was extraordinarily hardworking and possessed a true joie de vivre, reflected in her love of travel and adventure around the world. Above all, she loved her son, daughter-in-law, and her grandson immeasurably; they were the greatest joys of her life.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the devoted staff at Vista and to her dedicated physicians for their compassionate care.

Funeral service will take place privately at Eternal Gardens Cemetery, Shaare Zion Beth-El Congregation Section, Beaconsfield. Shiva is strictly private. Donations in Irene’s memory may be made to the Jewish General Hospital Foundation, (514) 340-8251.
