It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of Jacques Bazini. Jacques was a doting husband to the late Esther (née Pessoah), beloved father to Maggie, Benny and Liz and father-in-law to Mike and Rob, cherished grandfather to Amelia, Michael, Jake and Matty, and great-grandfather to Olan.

Bold and strong-willed, Jacques left Egypt for Israel as a teenager. In Israel he served in the IDF's first paratrooper unit, most notably in action during the Suez Canal War of 1956. From jobs as medic to mechanic, he was a true "Jack of all trades” who could fix anything with ingenuity and a little glue. In 1966, Jacques immigrated to Canada with his young family and a determination to build a better life. Through hard work and perseverance, he rose to a management position in the apparel industry, providing his family with not only comfort and security, but also a powerful example of what courage and resilience can achieve. Above all, he was known for having a big heart, despite his tough exterior.

Thank you to Dr. Elizov and the nurses in Internal Medicine at The Montreal Jewish General Hospital, as well as Dr. Soueidan and the team of nurses, PTs and PABs at Catherine Booth Hospital who cared for Jacques these past few months.

A private, graveside funeral will be held for family on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at 10:00 a.m.  Shiva will take place at 5300 Cote St Luc Road #915 on Wednesday, December 10 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., and on Thursday, December 11 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., and again from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
