Joseph Mendel

Joseph Mendel, ninety-two, passed away peacefully in Montreal on January 9, 2026. Predeceased by Anna z”l, his treasured bride, the anchor and centre of his life for sixty years. Survived by his older brother Leonard (Pearl z”l). Cherished father of Monica and Haim, Dean and Andrea, Shawn and Ashley. Proud “Zaidey” of Natan and Hilary, Talia and Cedric, Daniel, Polly and Adam, Jillian, Max, Tyler, and Shepard. Great-grandfather of Theo, Cobi, and Anna Libby. Loving uncle to Stephen and Sharon, Allen and Diane, Judy and Paul, Michael and Bonnie. Joe will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family. Special thanks to Josie, James, and Donald for their exceptional care and compassion, and Dr. Daniel Wiseman and the 6th floor staff at the Jewish General Hospital for their support. Joe lived his life with integrity and purpose. He believed in hard work, in partnership, in caring for others, and in living as a good Jew. His values and his growing family are his legacy.

Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. .W., on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. Burial at the Tifereth Beth David Jerusalem Congregation Cemetery, Tifereth Jerusalem Section, 5015 de la Savane.
