It is with heavy hearts (but still a song within) that we announce the peaceful passing of Marvin Myer “Happy Pappy, Grampi” Strudensky in his 93rd year, on Wednesday, July 29th, 2026, surrounded by his three children, Steven, Barry, and Andrea, and many dear friends. Our father lived life with a song in his heart and always on the sunny side of the street. Our father was “always a friend,” as Mike said, ready to help in any way. He was the consummate driver; no pickup or drop-off was too far. And you could find him well into his nineties delivering Schwartz’s because our dad liked to stay in the game.  He felt that summer wind; he was riding high in April, he always picked himself up and got back in the race, and he did it his way.  Please sing your favourite Sinatra tune in his honour. He will be greatly missed by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many, many dear friends.

We want to extend a special thank-you to the Palliative Care Team at the Jewish General Hospital. Dr. Thomas de Gabory and the nurses and PABs made our week there, and our father’s week, filled with peace, calm, compassion, and support. Truly remarkable. Thank you to the volunteers who came through offering their support and the kind social worker, Carly Berlin. A special thank you to the music therapist Dan Goldman, who brought us together in song, provided a respite, and gave my dad and us what we needed most - the healing gift of music.
