With deep love and gratitude for a life so beautifully lived, we announce the passing of our patriarch Milton Friefeld, who left this world at the remarkable age of 101. Devoted husband to his beloved late wife, Claire Mendelson. Loving and devoted father and father-in-law of Joanne and Leonard Kaizer, Sharon Friefeld, Franceen and Rick Schwartz. Cherished Grandpa of Leora, Alison, Rachel, Lauren, Aiden, and Samantha. He was also recently predeceased by his grandson Matthew. The proud great-grandfather of Jordyn, Noah, and Max. They will forever carry his stories, and his spirit in their hearts. Dear brother and brother-in-law of the late Saul and the late Lynn Friefeld, the late Bryna and the late Max Vader, and the late Ruth Friefeld. Brother-in-law of Lola and the late Jack Mendelson, the late Sarah and the late Mort Korenberg, the late Hy and the late Gert Mendelson, and the late Eddie and the late Madeline Mendelson.
Though we mourn his passing, we celebrate a life exceptionally well lived. We hold close the comfort that he is now reunited with Claire, the love of his life, at peace and together once more. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by his many nieces and nephews, and by his many dear life long friends and AMICIS.
Dad was born in Montreal, the youngest of four to Max Friefeld and Rachel Palayew. A blond headed youngster, he studied to become a chartered accountant and a trustee in bankruptcy. He met Claire through mutual AMICI friends, married in 1949 and built a beautiful life together in Montreal.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr Leah Steinberg and the staff at the Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, and Dr Kimberley Reiter for exceptional ongoing care of our father in the community.
Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Tuesday, February 24 at 1:00 p.m. Burial at the Shomrim Laboker Congregation Cemetery, Beth Yehudah Section, de la Savane. Shiva details to follow.
